The seventh of the Ten Commandments states that "Thou shalt not steal." Apparently, two California nuns should have been reminded of this sin much sooner.

Sisters Mary Margaret Kreuper, and Lana Chang were accused of allegedly embezzling about $500,000 in tuition, fees, and donations from St. James Catholic School in Torrance, California. Further investigation suggested that, while the nuns gave some of the money back to the school, they used the rest for gambling while on trips to Vegas casinos.

Kreuper was the principal of St. James and Chang taught there before both retired earlier in 2018.

"Our community is concerned and saddened by this situation and regret any injury to our long relationship with the families of the school," Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the order the nuns belong to, said in a statement.

Parents of students who attend St. James were outraged at the findings, but not as angry as when they discovered how the archdiocese would move forward with legal matters. A letter by St. James Church Monsignor Michael Myers said that the two sisters have expressed deep remorse and asked for the forgiveness and prayers of members of the parish.

That's right - a good "sorry" was enough to convince the archdiocese not to press charges.

While the case is still currently under further investigation, some in Hollywood and on Twitter are already betting big on turning the gambling nuns story into a feature film, though who knows if they're really serious about it or just cracking a joke. A couple of titles for this proposed film actually make us want to go see this!

What do you think of this case? Should these nuns be punished for their bad habits and treated with the same legal proceedings as any other person, or do you believe that even women of the cloth deserve to let loose in Sin City every once in a while? Let us know in the comments below!
