A Crazy Neighbor With A Cat Obsession

Sometimes a persistent neighbor just does not know when to quit or when to leave someone alone. This was the case when this Redditor’s sister (we can call her Jenny and her sister Stacey) had a neighbor who was always to far into their business and had an unhealthy obsession with their cat. You would think that the obsession would end at wanting to see the cat as much as she could, but this neighbor decided she needed to come up with a beyond insane plan. Needless to say, the crazy neighbor came up short in her efforts but the revenge and karma that followed suit was truly satisfying to the furthest extent.

How It Began

Before we dive into the craziness that is this story, we must first understand the background. This crazy neighbor (we can call her Anna) was notorious for getting into everyone’s business within the neighborhood. She would force herself into other people’s homes without permission to “catch up” or “hang out” with them, all the while being incredibly nosy, snooping room from room. She had built herself a reputation of the neighborhood’s most annoying resident, and also as a thief. Many times, people had caught her stealing items from inside their homes or out in their yards. The cops had been called on her several times, but she did a great job at making herself seem pathetic, to such an extent that no one would ever press charges. To paint a picture of her: she was a middle-aged divorcee who looked just as menacing as her personality.
Jenny and Stacey’s home was no exception. In fact, since Jenny and Stacey lived right next door to Anna, they were her favorite neighbors to torment. If Stacey answered the door (she was very passive and wanted to make everyone happy), Anna would coerce herself into the home where she would do her usual routine of snooping from room to room until she ultimately found what she was looking for: Stacey’s stunning cat. Once Anna finds the cat, it begins to become even more difficult to get her out of the house. She’ll first begin by over-complimenting the cat, droning on about how “gorgeous” he is and how she wished to have a cat just like him. Then Anna will begin to bargain with Stacey, asking to buy the cat off of her. This is where things begin to take a dramatic turn.

Stacey’s Fur-Baby

Stacey would always refuse Anna’s requests to buy the cat from her, since they held a very close and serious bond. When Stacey’s cat was just a kitten, he was the runt of the litter and was left to die by his mother. Stacey swooped in and would bottle-feed the kitten until he became healthy and strong, so in a way, Stacey was this cat’s mother, and he her child. There was absolutely no way Stacey could or would ever sell him, and the only time she would get angry was when someone would try to get in between her and her cat. So she responded with an emphatic no.
Anna did not like this one bit, and began to get very upset that Stacey would not agree to sell her cat to her. That’s when Jenny intervened.

Get Out And Stay Out!

Jenny was the less bashful of the sisters, and when it came to Anna, she really did not hold back (which made Anna despise her). Without hesitation, Jenny directed the disgruntled Anna to the front door and promptly told her to get out of the house. After a few moments of resistance, she finally gave in and went back to her own home.
Both sisters (and I’m sure the cat as well) were all very happy to get their privacy back and to move on with their days, hoping to not see Anna again for a LONG time.
Well, not too long after the altercation, the cat got out of the house and went roaming about the neighborhood. He was not an outdoor cat, so he wasn’t used to being anywhere outside the home, a fact that made Stacey very nervous. Both Stacey and Jenny left the house immediately to find where the cat had wandered off to. After searching the bushes and brush in their backyard, they heard a very alarming noise.

The Bite Heard Around The Neighborhood

Jenny and Stacey both heard a very angry cat’s “YOWL!!” shortly followed by a human shriek, coming from the direction of Anna’s home. Then as if out of nowhere, a blur of messed-up fur bolted out of Anna’s back door and zoomed right into Stacey and Jenny’s place.
Upon further inspection, the cat had bleach on his back paw and tail (Jenny was able to determine that since she has a severe bleach allergy), and was very on-edge from his “visit” to Anna’s. Right around this time was when the nightmare neighbor emerged from her home.
Anna, who was wearing hair-dye gloves and swearing up an absolute storm, had been bitten and severely scratched by the cat – with very deep cuts on her cheek and a substantial bite through one of her gloved hands. She made eye-contact with Stacey and began to storm over to where they were standing. While the girls were expecting an apology from her, they got something much different and even more ridiculous than what they could have imagined.

A Barrage Of Insults

Anna pushed herself through the shrubs that separated her and Stacey’s property lines, and began to get in her face exclaiming that the cat had attacked her totally unprovoked. According to her story, she had been cooking when the cat had simply “wandered” into her kitchen, and when she went to pick him up he went ballistic and began to attack her ferociously, hence the cuts and bite. Stacey and Jenny didn’t buy her story which sent Anna into another tirade, now completely directed at both sisters. She began screaming racial slurs at the girls and reamed into them about how “stupid they were to keep such a dangerous animal in the house.” She also went on about how Stacey was going to have to pay her medical bills and how this was all her fault, and then finishing the tantrum by threatening to call animal control to “put that thing down.”
This was the boiling point. There was a twinge in Stacey’s eye, and she had no control over what she did next.

Serves Her Right

Just as Anna shoved Stacey with her bloodied hand and was about to spew more filth from her mouth, Stacey full-force punched her right in the face, sending the 40-year-old brat right on her butt. Stacey finished off her statement by suggesting that Anna shut it and a few other explicit phrases that don’t necessarily need to be repeated. The crazed neighbor fell silent. All while this was happening, Jenny had run inside to call the police, who promptly arrived on the scene.
The police first spoke to Jenny and Stacey about the situation (since they were the ones who called in the first place) and got a good idea as to what had happened, with Stacey even admitting to punching Anna in self-defense. Then they talked to Anna, who, of course, switched her story up once more. She told the officers that she was about to bleach her own hair (hence the hair dye gloves) when Stacey’s cat came into her house and attacked her. On top of that, she also said to the cops that the sisters had assaulted her when she came over to tell them that the cat had attacked her, including getting kick in the ribs by Jenny even though she was in the house at the time calling the police. The officers didn’t quite buy her story, as she had no bruising on her ribs and her face had gotten very swollen from the scratches she had suffered from the cat. The officers remained suspicious of both sides, and decided it was best to head over to Anna’s home to investigate. What they found made the case fairly clear.

More Than What They Needed

When they got into Anna’s home, the first thing anyone noticed was the trail of blood and torn cat fur leading from the kitchen to the first floor bathroom. Everyone followed the trail, and in the bathroom found even more blood, even more cat fur, a bleach applicator (with the box that it came in), plus the cat’s collar which had been thrown in the garbage can next to the sink.
As the evidence surmounted against Anna, she began to try more and more to play the victim. The cops weren’t buying it. The truth finally came out: she had taken the cat into her home and tried to BLEACH the spots of his fur that were darker, so she could pass him off as a different cat while Stacey and Jenny were searching for him. She was immediately arrested, and Stacey had decided to press charges for assault and theft.
You would think that the story would end here, but the officers decided to keep looking through the home and what they found in the next room ended up sweetening the deal.

Definitely Not Hers

The cops went into her living room and found an astonishing amount of DVD players and CD players littered on and around her coffee table as well as in her spare room, all still fully sealed and packaged. After some extra research, it was determined that they were all in fact stolen. But wait, there’s more! After further inspection of the home, the police also found a variety of prescription bottles, all prescribed to different names and none of which matched up with Anna. So on top of the charges that she just incurred from the cat fiasco, Anna was now also charged with the possession of stolen goods. Anna was taken down to the station to be booked, but this still isn’t the end of our story.

The Aftermath

Anna’s landlord predictably found out about all the illegal activity that she had been up to, and without hesitation broke her lease and kicked her out onto the street for “breach of contract.” Anna also ended up in jail for a little while and had to pay the cat’s vet bills, as he was very shook up from the altercation and also had his fur damaged from the bleach. There were no long term effects on the cat however, with the only lasting issue being the fact that his fur was discolored for a few months. And to top it off, Anna got an infection from the bite on her hand that caused tendon and nerve damage as well.
This story just goes to show: don’t mess with cats, don’t steal from your neighbors, and just buy you own dang pets!
