1/20. He's a master of breaking the fourth wall

Deadpools most notorious trait is his tendency to break the fourth wall in his books. Not many comic book characters know they exist within a work of fiction, but Deadpool thrives on it. Every now and then hell drop a comment to the artist or writer working on his book, or reference the idea that hes a fictional character like in the panel above, much to the confusion of whoever happens to be nearby.

2/20. He's clever

Daredevil is a pretty perceptive guy, so pulling the wool over his eyes (ha.), even if its just for a moment, is actually kind of impressive. If Deadpool was a little more dastardly, or Daredevil was a little more not-a-good-guy, that brief moment would have been all it took to finish the fight.

3/20. He doesn't take himself too seriously.

Deadpools main power, his accelerated healing factor, gives him the ability to bounce back from any injury in no time. Oh, except for the cancer he had when his powers were given to him by the Weapon X program. His existing tumor spread across his whole body, leaving him horribly disfigured. If any other Marvel character came down with such a horrible ailment, itd be a tragedy. For Deadpool, its just another punchline.

4/20. He also never takes anyone else too seriously.

Tony Starks alcoholism is no secret in the Marvel universe, but its still a taboo subject for most. Not so for Deadpool. In Deadpool #7, the character lampoons Tony Stark by recreating the memorable Demon in a Bottle storyline, including this moment where he throws on the Iron Man armor and proceeds to get knock-down drunk.

5/20. He can turn anything into a joke.

21. He can turn anything into a joke.

6/20. He is a nerd!!

He watched Star Trek! Hes just like you and me.

7/20. He doesn't discriminate

One of Deadpools most refreshing aspects is that hes not really aligned with any particular faction in the Marvel universe. Hes not really a good guy, and hes not really a bad guy, hes just a guy who likes to kill people and get paid while he does it. Some of his most interesting moments happen when he is forced to confront his heroism and loose ethics.

8/20. He stands up for what he believes in.

Listen, this is an easy, obvious joke. But the important thing to take away from this is that Deadpool stands up for his beliefs, even if his beliefs are just that the Star Wars prequels sucked. Not many superheroes have such unwavering, unforgiving convictions.

9/20. He's awesome.

10. He's awesome.

No moment is too tense for a well-timed Steve Miller reference.

10/20. He even impresses his enemies.

11. He even impresses his enemies.

First things first, thats not actually Hawkeye. Its Bullseye. Second thing to note, Bullseye never misses his targets. So its pretty impressive that Deadpool managed to evade one of Bullseyes missiles. Just ask Bullseye

11/20. Clearly the choice to cosplay.

12/20. Not afraid of anyone.

13. Not afraid of anyone.

Who else has the balls to steal multi-million dollar jets from Tony Stark

13/20. Did I mention funny?

14. Did I mention funny?

When Deadpool accidentally set a live elephant on fire while trying to defeat the ghost of Teddy Roosevelt (you read that correctly), he did what anyone who accidentally set a live elephant on fire while trying to defeat the ghost of Teddy Roosevelt would do and made of the occasion.

14/20. He can find his way out of any bad situation.

15. He can find his way out of any bad situation.

Even if he has to shoot a civilian in the leg, Deadpool can wiggle his wayout of any situation. When Daredevil had him by the short hairs, he used his gun and quick thinking to get away without Daredevil chasing after him. Genius.

16/20. No enemy is too large.

17. No enemy is too large.

Not many heroes have gotten the better of Galactus, who actually eats entire planets just for fun, but after just a brief stint as Galactus herald, Deadpool got the better of the cosmic entity by just talking a ton. The Fantastic Four could barely even beat this dude, and Deadpool pretty much did it without throwing a punch.

17/20. His humour is infectious.

18. His humour is infectious.

Cable and Deadpool are old buddies, but Cable isnt exactly known for his terrific sense of humor. When youre from the post-apocalyptic future and youre trying to save everyone you know and love from certain destruction, its hard to maintain a cheery outlook. Somehow, though, Deadpool brings out the best in Cable, and even manages to get him to crack a few jokes himself.

18/20. He doesn't aim too high.

19. He doesn't aim too high.

Most heroes waste their time on unobtainable goals such as world peace, but Deadpool keeps things simple. He knows what he likes, and he pursues those things. Its just that simple.

19/20. He makes references we all get.

20. He makes references we all get.

20/20. He's funny.. or tries to be.

Everyone loves the class clown, and Deadpool is definitely the class clown of the Marvel universe. But he's not the only one who torments people with Lord of the Rings references. Check out what this guy does to his girlfriend:
