The full circle has been completed, as the forgotten parlor games that inspired Mario Party have now been reintroduced as Mario Party-inspired parlor games.
A woman, clearly a big fan of the Nintendo game, has invited a group of pals to partake in a series of challenges. Akin to Mario Party, each contestant is expected to move around a board and complete mini-games. Doing so rewards coins and prizes.
Jamie Eisner decided to have a Mario Party-themed event for her fiancé’s birthday, and she went all out. Costumes, props, and even a map were arranged. And, of course, a slight adult twist was added. As well as the challenges, players could also end up in drinking games. Now you have my attention.
“It was my fiancé’s idea to have a life-sized version of Mario Party,” she told People. “He loves games and has been saying for years that for his birthday, he wanted to do a life-sized Mario Party.”
Plenty Of Pre Planning For Mario Party
Putting together a Mario Party-themed birthday for adults is no small feat. It took weeks of planning for the dedicated fiancé to get it right. People were told of characters far in advance, giving them time to get costumes together. She also planned the games, teams, and rewards. But the whole thing was a masterpiece of event planning.

“Once everyone arrived, I also had to make sure the game ran smoothly enough with all of the moving parts that everyone understood the rules and also could move through the game stress-free, so we could have fun! Before we started playing, we all sat in our living room and went through the rules so all of our friends had an idea of what they were getting themselves into,” Jessie said. She sat out of the game, instead orchestrating the fun.
The Mario Party-themed event had many little games to take part in. Players were given the option to drink or do a challenge. There was even a chance to sabotage as they made their way around the house-sized board. Of course, the whole thing was done in character, too.
“Our friend who dressed as Donkey Kong brought bananas with different things written on them, like ‘truth or dare’ or ‘take a drink.’ She would randomly throw them at other players, which was a lot of fun,” Jessie noted.
Well, I think I know what my next event is going to be.
