Parents with picky-eater kids are constantly trying to find new ways to get them to sit down and eat food. Pizza, typically, is a surefire way to make them happy, but this new lion pizza has taken it a step further.
I was always told not to play with my food, but it appears many of my peers didn’t get that memo. The internet is full of people turning their food into playthings. I am all for inventive cooking, but to impress me, it also needs to be nutritious and flavorsome. The lion pizza is neither of these.
If your kid is too fussy to even eat pizza, you’ve failed at parenting. If it needs its food to look like something cute to consume, then maybe it’s time to get a little stricter. However, the lion pizza does look cute, even if it is devoid of any actual health.
Cute But Dumb
The lion pizza is a simple thing. It’s a flour tortilla cut into strips around the outside, with the center left as a whole circle, holding them all in place. The middle is then filled with tomato sauce and topped with cheese. Pepperonis are used for ears, and olives for the eyes and nose. When cooked, the whole thing resembles a lion, but with ingredients for pizza.
As a birthday snack, this would be an excellent thing to serve to children. But, as an actual meal, it’s rather devoid of the things any growing child needs. Sauce, cheese, and one olive are hardly going to provide a child with energy and nutrition.
Don’t even get me started on those white flour tortillas. It’s a crime against the entire Latino population that they even exist.
The lion pizza is cute, but it’s basically just a really terrible pizza. It has none of the elements that make them great. It’s missing all the flavor in favor of flappy bits of slightly charred tortilla. Cute, but also just a shitty pizza with extra steps.
