If you think it’s high time your dog started paying its own way, then why not sign your pooch up for the next Air Bud auditions?
It’s time for a new Air Bud for the latest installment in the series, and your dog could be it. They’re looking for a stage-ready Golden Retriever to star in Air Bud Returns, and the auditions are open. The original dog, Buddy, died in 1998, and left some big paws to fill.
The dog needs to be able to shoot hoops from the six-point line consistently, dunk, and snap ankles with aggressive dribbling. They also need to be over 6 feet 8, and look good in a pair of Nikes.
Cineverse and Air Bud Entertainment announced the “launch of a nationwide talent search to discover the next golden retriever to carry the 25-year legacy forward—embodying the charm, athleticism, and heart that made Air Bud a beloved character.”
Think Your Dog Has What It Takes To Be Air Bud?
For your dog to be considered for the role of Air Bud, it must be a purebred golden retriever. As long as it meets that quota, then it’s eligible for submission. All dog owners need to do is go to the link and submit the form.
This includes a video and a picture, with one or two questions about the potential puppy superstar. It’s all quite quick and easy. Even if your dog doesn’t get selected, there are tons of prizes to be won simply for submitting an application.
According to the job posting, these prizes include official Air Bud jerseys and signed movie merchandise, to a trip to the Hollywood premiere. It’s high time your dog started earning a bit.
There have been a total of 14 films in the Air Bud series. This includes the Air Bud originals and the Air Buddies spin-off. For movies made about dogs that do sports, they’ve really flogged that dead horse to shreds. I cannot believe people go to watch them still.
But if you want to turn your dog into the next Air Bud star, try your luck. Animal actors don’t get paid much, but it’ll certainly cover their rent.
