Ascending a seemingly endless series of levels in a confined space, surrounded by a mob cold, lifeless faces. You try to turn away from them only to find their reflection staring back at you. And that silence. That deafening silence the refused to be unbroken by another human voice. Any noise, be it merely a sneeze or cough, feels forbidden. Of course, music may be playing overhead, but, let’s face it, who is really listening to that?
The only known escape of this crippling sensation is the ding, breaking the silence and signaling that you have finally reached your destination. Never is sitting down to endure your work load so satisfying. Dear Lord, how sad is that?
