Medicinal fast food may just be the most American thing I have ever heard of. People have begun to treat their migraines with a few select menu items from none other than McDonald’s.
You would be forgiven for thinking that McDonald’s does nothing good for your body. On the most part, it’s true. In fact, one TikTok Doctor claims that one large McDonald’s fries is the equivalent to smoking a deck of cigarettes. I think this is nonsense, but either way, the comparison has been made.
But, a new viral trend has popped up on social media of people treating their migraines with a large diet coke and fries from McDonald’s. Looking at the response, it seems like it really works too. I think it’s the combination of a huge caffeine boost, and a hit of salt from the menu items that feed the body what it needs quickly.

There are many causes for migraines, and on the whole they’re not completely understood. But a lack of certain minerals or nutrients can bring some on, in some cases. Often, low sodium can be a cause. The salt on McDonald’s fries is a huge hit of the sodium a body needs. The sugar and caffeine in coke are just a big glucose and caffeine spike.
McDonald’s Isn’t A Migranie Cure All
The cause of migraines is different for everyone. If you’re one of the unlucky ones that suffers with migraines, then it’s maybe worth giving this McDonald’s hack a try. It may work or it may not. Either way, you get fries and a coke out of it.
I don’t suffer from migraines, thankfully. But, I do often suffer from hangovers. I find that a large Big Mac meal with extra nuggets is usually a pretty sure fire way to cure them. If it works for that, it may just help with migraines too.
If you find that the McDonald’s migraine hack works for you, mix it up a bit. Try another drink with decent amounts of caffeine in it, like a green tea. Also, maybe switch out the fries for another high sodium food like salted nuts. McDonald’s might save you from migraine pain, but it’ll also stop your heart.
