There are an increasing number of scammers on the internet, and their tactics are getting wilder by the day. One scammer accidentally pretended to be the CEO of a company while talking to the real CEO.
The back and forth between CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma and the scammer goes on for some time. Sharma was nice enough to share the conversation with his many X followers. The boldness and trickery involved in the exchange had him shocked.
The exchange was full of requests for private information on his accounts. At one point, the scammer even tried to send over an .exe file. These are executable programs that can run on a phone or computer. They are often used by scammers to either steal information from your device or take remote control.

But the CEO, talking to a scammer pretending to be him, wasn’t fooled. He even strung him along for a time, sharing the shocking attempt with his 600,000+ followers. It served not only as a warning to others but also as a good source of entertainment.
CEO Scammer Is One Of Many
Bankrate reports that 70% of US Americans have been victims of some kind of scam or fraud. It always amazes me how many people fall for it, too. It used to be just the elderly or slow that fell for scammers, but as this CEO proves, they are getting smarter by the day.
There have been multiple reports of people falling for fake online profiles. Many scammers are now pretending to be celebrities and reaching out to fans. In many cases, they will start online relationships with them and eventually ask for money.
Now, you would think that most people would see through this. Why would Brad Pitt or Anne Hathaway reach out to a nobody to start a relationship? Furthermore, why on earth would they ever ask for money? However, this fake identity scam is one of the most common out there.
Obviously, this CEO was never going to fall for someone pretending to be him. But, knowing what I do about other people who have fallen for scams, I wouldn’t be surprised if it worked on some people.
