I’m all for someone coming into my home and cooking for me, but I usually have to draw the line at a black bear using my stove.
A homeowner, living in Bell County, Kentucky, made a rather panicked call to their local game warden. The post, shared by the Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement, revealed that they had found an unwelcome guest in their kitchen.
After hearing a loud noise, the homeowner headed into their kitchen to find a black bear sitting on their stove. It had fallen through the kitchen ceiling and was making itself busy cooking up a cheese toast. “Upon arrival, the bear was located sitting on the stove in the kitchen,” the enforcement team posted to Facebook.
The bear was curled up on top of the stove, looking rather confused. But the team was able to safely run it out of the property without any further damage to her house or kitchen. The black bear headed back to where it came from.
Black Bear Crashed Through Ceiling Onto Stove
The investigation showed that the black bear had gained access to the kitchen via the ceiling. Using a ladder propped up outside the property, he had climbed to the roof. But, because the bear was too heavy for the building, it crashed straight through.
From there, it found itself stuck without anywhere to go. For some reason, the black bear had chosen to sit on top of the stove, waiting for rescue. Pictures from the scene show the fuzzy guy looking very confused. Black bears are fans of nuts and fruits, it had no use for a cooking top like that.
Finding a bear in your kitchen is certainly one way to get woken up in the morning. I don’t imagine the homeowner who found it had any need for a coffee that day. Nothing gets the blood going first thing like finding a huge bear mixing its morning porridge.
Bears are naturally inquisitive animals, and often forget quite how much they weigh. If they find something to climb, and there could be food at the end of it, you better believe they’ll get involved.
