Before getting a huge, visible tattoo, most people will research their artists and make sure they have clearly articulated their desires. But this young woman did neither of these things, and now she has her regret permanently inked into her skin.
19-year-old Millie Nichols from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, went to a tattoo artist in Spain while on holiday. She already knew what she wanted and even had a design in mind. She was hoping to get a Cybersigilism-style tattoo.
These are reminiscent of the ’90s tribal style tattoos with a little more cyberpunk thrown in. They’re just a spookier version of tribal tattoos, really. It appears that just as many people are going to end up regretting them, too.
Nichols had found the design she wanted and drawn it out on an image of a hand. To most of us, it what she wanted would be clear. But the Spanish tattoo artist somehow didn’t get that.
Just Tattoo A Hand On My Hand
As the artists started tattooing away, Nichols looked away. The design that went from her fingertips to midway up her forearm was no small piece. It must have taken hours, and she didn’t check what he was up to.
When she finally looked at the finished piece, she made a horrific realisation. The artist, misunderstanding her request, had actually tattooed the example sketch of her hand and fingers onto her hand.
Now, along with the intended tattoo design, she has an outline of her hand on her hand. When she asked him to fix it, he simply shaded the outline, making it even worse. What she has been left with is a terrible tattoo, a nicely outlined hand, and regret.
“It wasn’t done at that point, but it would have looked really stupid if I didn’t let him finish it, and then he tried shading it to make it look better, but it just made it stand out more,” she told Daily Mail. “I have to walk around with this now, and all my co-workers are always asking me why he did that, and I don’t know, I really don’t know.”
Now she’s got to save up for laser removal for her hilariously outlined hand tattoo.
