Even supporters of President Donald Trump have to admit he’s a funny-looking guy sometimes. The Queen of Norway has let her intrusive thoughts win, and openly mocked Trump to his face, leaving her husband scrabbling to distract the President.
Trump and his often joked about ‘Duck Lips’ are the focal point of many critics and impersonators. Even when seen on the screen, they get people going. For Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, seeing Trump talk in person was a little too much.
Usually, we’re able to keep our intrusive thoughts to ourselves. But every so often, one of them will slip out. For Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, imitating Trump and his notorious way of speaking was too hard to resist. As he spoke to her and her husband, she turned to the audience and mimicked his mouth movements.
King Rushed To Cover Up His Queen
At the NATO summit, Trump, Queen Máxima, and King Willem-Alexander turned to thank the press. As Trump spoke the words, “Thank you very much,” his lips did that ‘thing’ they do. The Queen, watching him speak, couldn’t help herself and mimed the words, pouting her lips in the trademark Trump style.

Noticing what his wife had done before Trump did, the King quickly turned the President away from her. Holding his shoulder, he turned him in the other direction, and stared, babbling in a fashion straight out of a comedy.
Turning to point at anything other than his wife’s mocking mouth, he highlights something off camera. “Eeerm, uh, that’s you,” he says, presumably looking at one of the many pictures Trump has hanging of himself.
The internet has blown up with responses from fans and foes alike. The breaking of formality by the Queen in front of President Trump has been a delight for some. In such tense times, a little humour is always welcome.
However, avid supporters of the orange leader of the ‘free world’ have been up in arms about the mockery. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands’ imitation of Trump is seen as an insult to the country, and many are on the attack.
Either way, I imagine the ride home with the king and queen will have a pretty stern conversation about correct etiquette.
