Drones are becoming more and more prevalent in population control and police tactics. But, recently, one was used against a bank robber in a new way that could be taken straight from a cartoon.
As tools of surveillance, drones have become quite commonplace in public areas. In warfare, they are strapped with explosives and flown through the windows of homes. But police took them in a totally new direction recently, and used one to perform a cartoon booby trap for a bank robber holding a hostage.
The standoff between police and the hostage taker began at around 5.30 pm in Saginaw Township. The bank robber had a hostage and wasn’t coming out. The police in the small town had closed off the high street, and an audience had gathered.
There was a stalemate, and the hostage was reportedly injured. Police had run out of options until someone came up with a remarkable cartoon plan involving a drone. The bank robber was parched, and they had requested a drink. This was the in the police needed to end the stalemate, but not in the way anyone expected.
Drone Booby Trap Leads To Bank Robber Downfall
The police lulled the bank robber into a false sense of security. They agreed to bring him a drink, but they would deliver it with a drone so that nobody had to come close. This kept the deranged man calm, thinking he was safe to grab the drink without being apprehended.
But the dangling drink on the drone was a trap all along. As the man reached out to get the beverage, BANG, the police shot him to death, thirsty and exposed.
After a stand-off for several hours, the bank robber had been neutralised by a sniper. Luring the criminal out with a cartoon-style dangling temptation was a long shot, but it paid off.
The hostage was recovered and is in good health now. They were admitted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
But let this be a lesson. Never trust anything from the police, especially if it’s a tempting-looking treat swinging from a drone. You never know what they’re planning.
