Riders on America’s tallest roller coaster were left with a rush of blood to the head after it got stuck, upside down, for ten minutes.
The roller coaster, named ‘Sirens Curse’, seems to be actually cursed. On its first day in operation, a motorist allegedly crashed into one of the poles. This cut power to the ride, and immediately halted the seats.
Passengers at the time were at a point in the roller coaster where they were hanging upside down. They were left there for a total of ten minutes, safe, but surely uncomfortable. Eventually, power was restored, and the stranded passengers continued with their ride.
Typically, the roller coaster is only two minutes long. It features a 160-foot lift hill, 2,966 feet of track, and hits speeds of 58 mph. But, with such a bad first day, they may need to take a look at continuing the operation.
Roller coaster Set To Continue Operation After Trapping Riders Upside Down
According to the park, the ride operated as planned in such a situation. “The coaster’s safety system performed as designed, the ride was restarted, and guests continued their ride,” Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark explained. “Siren’s Curse reopened shortly after, and all guests exited the ride safely.”

The ride has been heavily advertised, running up to its fateful first day. It’s heralded as America’s tallest, longest, and fastest tilting coaster. However, it doesn’t bode well for the roller coaster to get stuck upside down on the first day. Roller coasters are only supposed to feel scary, not actually pose a mortal threat.
Luckily for the riders, nobody had to be evacuated from their seats during the upside-down fiasco. Instead, they just had to wait until the ride started again. I hope they were well compensated for their inconvenience. I can’t imagine what hanging upside down for that long would do to my insides.
Sirens Curse can be found at Cedar Point park in Ohio if you’re wondering where you can test your luck. They have previously been in the news after an item flew off a roller coaster and struck a woman on the ground.
