A rapper calling himself 4xtra now has two fewer fingers after a firework exploded in his hands this Fourth of July.
Every year on the Fourth of July, emergency services prepare themselves for an influx of people with more explosives than sense. Hospitals are overwhelmed by the wounded with various injuries to their hands and bodies. Despite the dangers of fireworks being clearly advertised, many insist on setting them off near their bodies.
For rapper 4xtra, the whole situation leading up to his lost fingers was far too predictable. Initially, waving the two small sticks of dynamite around like a pair of hand grenades, he started throwing out threats. Videos show him holding the palm-sized fireworks, asking who wants to get blown up.
“Who wants to get blown up today?” he said, presumably making a joke. “I’m going to blow your a– up! I’m blowing somebody up today.” Clearly, he didn’t find anyone to blow up, so, not wanting to default on his promise, he blew himself up.

The picture of the rapper after he had lost two fingers to the firework went viral online, and it was nasty. His hand was a ruined mess after the small explosive went off. There won’t be any coming back from that, or sewing the lost digits back on.
Initially, people thought he may have lost his whole hand, but a fellow rapper clarified that it was only two fingers. Regardless, 4Xtra is still in the hospital getting extensive reconstruction work done for his missing fingers.
Rapper 4Xtra was just one of many out on Independence Day who will have blown fingers off through improper firework use. Year after year, people pay no attention to the warnings and use the explosives while drunk or without respect.
In a country where even a simple medical bill will put people in crippling debt for their entire life, you would think people would be more careful. Now, a GoFundMe has been set up by his sister. As always, they’re dreading the bills that will come rolling in.
It was lucky the rapper only lost a few fingers to the firework. It could have been significantly worse.
