The world of dropshipping is a relatively new one, and it does come with its issues. One woman has become the return address for a completely useless item, resulting in hundreds of packages at her home.
There are many companies out there who make their money by producing cheap tat and selling it online. The seller is often not even a person, but simply an algorithm that is plugged into a factory, which sends items out.
Amazon is full of them. Every time you order a new phone cover or cable, it’ll be from a company like this. However, there are rules on Amazon about how sellers abroad are able to function in the US. For a foreign company to ship packages to the US, they must have a US returns address, and it turns out one company has set it to a woman’s house in California.
The online Amazon seller known as Liusandedian peddles generic faux leather seat covers. However, often enough, they don’t fit, or they’re damaged and need to be returned. But the seller, instead of actually finding a returns location in the US, just set the address to the home of the California woman. They are probably so cheaply made, it’s more cost-effective to just dump them.
Mountains of Packages Swamp Woman
At first, they began arriving at the bemusement of the California woman, but as the packages became more frequent, it became a big problem. The packages aren’t small, and they take up a lot of space. And, despite her constant complaints to Amazon, they continued coming for over a year.
Now, her house and her driveway are filled with these bulky packages. When she approached Amazon, they told her to either donate them or sell them herself. But this wasn’t something she wanted to do or had time for. It wasn’t like she was being sent electricals or anything with value. It’s quite a niche product.
Eventually, with the help of ABC7, the pressure was put on. As a result, Amazon pulled itself together and agreed to collect the packages from the woman. They have also taken her name off the return address for the ghost company online.
