Amazon Prime Day, the long awaited day where Amazon offers large discounts on a large number of items. It was basically digital Black Friday.
While the low prices were an exciting prospect for many people, many people were also enraged by the allegedly horrible treatment of workers by Amazon in general, especially on Prime Day.
Workers in Minnesota staged a strike on Prime Day to protest unlivable working conditions at Fulfillment Centers, where workers organize and send off Amazon shipments. Workers have complained of exorbitantly high and rising quotas, long hours, and strict work requirements. On Prime Day, these conditions were greatly exacerbated due to a dramatic increase in the volume of shipments.
