Philipp Plein, a fashion designer who has the tendency to grab attention with his high-energy runway shows, grabbed attention of a different kind after his most recent event in Manhattan.
Like all fashion shows, plenty of critics were in attendance, and one in particular, Alexandra Mondalek, was there to witness the spectacle that left her standing out of her seat! But not in the way one would think.
She was told it would be a black-tie event, accompanied by a sit-down dinner. However, she arrived and was not fed, nor offered a seat! She was left standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a handful of other reporters, journalists, and critics.
She let it be known to the website Fashionista that this show was a lackluster sham that did not live up to expectations, that in her mind, weren’t set very high to begin with. Well, word travels fast in the days of social media, and Plein saw the negative comments about his show, and decided to add some of his own!
BUT…he didn’t have anything to combat Alexandra’s article, only to combat Alexandra herself. The fashion designer decided to go the route of using personal insults hurled at Mondalek, in particular, her body.
Luckily Mondalek used the incident to encourage people that body shaming is never the answer, no matter what is in question. As for Plein, his comments have since been deleted, and is back to work on fashion shows, maybe this time, they’ll get people out of their seats for a standing ovation, not because of lack of chairs.
