When a country insists on building all its houses from wood, it can hardly be surprised when a native wood-eating creature decides to make a meal of their homes. A woman, who just closed on her dream home, has been plagued by termite problems since the transaction.
Hailey Ann had just managed to buy her first property with her partner. They were full of excitement about building a home together and moving in. However, a TikTok she shared, that’s racked up millions of views, detailed the nightmare she had waiting for her.
@haileyyy_annn Love this for us 👍🏻🫠 and yes we did get a termite inspection prior to closing 😩 #homeowner #moving #life #termites

The video shows her walking through her empty home and into one of the bare rooms. As she zooms in, we see the one thing every wooden homeowner dreads to see. A trail left by termites. Her newly purchased home has a termite infestation, and the damage could be massive.
She thought that this was a problem that had been sorted out already. Speaking to People, she recalled the moment they knew something was wrong with their dream home. “The day before closing, honestly, on our drive to closing on the house, I got a call from our realtor saying they just found out that they found termites while they were moving the staging furniture out. They demanded it be treated like that day. And so it was.”
But, just three days later, the problem was back.
Termites Are Resilient Little Pests
Despite the exterminators coming in, the footage taken by Hailey was three days after they had moved in. The termites were back, and their dream home was becoming a nightmare. Thankfully, she had picked a good agent, and they chased up the previous tenants and demanded they sort the issue.
“The termite company that came and treated it was picked by the seller,” she recalled. “So, in order for it to be covered by them, to figure it out, we didn’t really have control over the termite company to come and eliminate them.”
It took them two missed appointments to finally turn up. But, eventually, the termite issue was over. However, her problems with the house were not.
“Literally an hour after the termite people showed up … I was just taking out the trash, and I noticed there was water spilling out of the floor into like the carport area, and then the floor was getting squishy and water was spewing out of the floor.”
Yet another thing had gone wrong with the home they were so excited to move into. But, again, she sorted it, and is now praying nothing else goes wrong, and she can finally focus on homebuilding.
Nothing is ever easy.
