If you’ve ever been on a flight where one of the passengers won’t stop ripping evil farts, then you can probably sympathise with the people who were recently hospitalized due to a dangerous odor at a major airport.
Passengers prior to boarding American Airlines 2055 reported a strong, terrible odor at Charlotte Airport. It was permeating everything, and quickly began to make people sick. The flight to Los Angeles was taken out of service and brought in for inspection. However, the foul odor was already bad enough to have hospitalized several people.
Before people were evacuated from the area, several had already inhaled the toxic fumes. Six people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while one reported serious symptoms. Since then, they have all been released from the local hospital.
Foul Flight Odor Suspected To Be A Fuel Leak
Despite an official report not yet being released, it has been suspected that the foul odor came from leaking fuel on the American Airlines flight. The plane was taken out of commission and has been brought in for further inspection.
The cancelled flight caused further delays at an airport that was already suffering from serious problems that day. Due to a technical issue at Charlotte Airport, there were 731 flights delayed and 132 canceled. It was a bad day for Charlotte Airport, all in all.
Thankfully, the bad odor on the American Airlines flight didn’t end up with any serious injuries. However, had the plane been allowed to take off, it could have caused some dangerous issues. Prolonged exposure to something as toxic as jet fuel can result in major health problems.
No statement has yet been released about the cause of the terrible odor around the American Airlines flight. The investigation will have to be a thorough and detailed one before a final verdict is made. Nobody wants to get sick just before a flight.
Usually, the foul smells in the enclosed cabin of a plane come from other people’s disgusting body odors. These might make you feel like you’re about to die, but they’re not usually as toxic as something like jet fuel. Usually.
