I’m all for a bit of civil disobedience, but when a drawbridge operator tells you to stay off a bridge, it’s usually common sense to listen.
The draw bridge operator working on the Brickell Bridge in Florida had performed their due diligence, telling people to stay off the bridge. However, one woman, who clearly lives by her own rules, ignored him. Instead, they strolled into the middle of the bridge and sat down.
What the woman was planning is anyone’s guess. But she intentionally sat out of the view of the drawbridge operator. The woman had been told that the drawbridge was about to open for boats. She was determined to stay in the middle.
According to the report, the operator did their second check and closed the swing arms. As far as they knew, the bridge was clear, and it was ready to be opened. However, there was still one woman sitting right where the whole thing was going to split.
Near-Death Experience For Drawbridge Idiot
As the drawbridge began to open, the woman sitting on the ground suddenly found herself in a bit of a predicament. The gap beneath her widened, and she was suddenly hanging on for dear life as the two sides separated.
Bystanders reported to People that she was seen hanging onto one side of the bridge. Eventually, she lost her grip and fell to the ground below. Unluckily, she missed the water and hit the solid ground instead.
The woman was rushed to the hospital with numerous injuries. She had called over 100 feet to the ground below. She was reported to be in a state of shock, along with the damage sustained from the fall.
According to other bystanders, the woman wasn’t in a good mental state before she fell from the drawbridge. She had been seen playing and dancing around the road before she decided to sit in the middle. Her intentions are still unclear. However, she is making a recovery in the hospital but the extent of her injuries is still unclear.
Hopefully, she will be treated for mental health, too.
