After 20 years in a coma, an Arabian prince has finally slipped away into death.
When he was only 15 years old, Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid Al-Saud was involved in a tragic car crash in London. The incident left him with serious internal bleeding and a brain hemorrhage. As a result, he slipped into a coma for more than two decades.
For years, the prince was kept on a ventilator in King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh. His family mourned his coma for 20 years, but they never permitted his life support to be turned off. They lived in constant hope that one day he would emerge and live a normal life.
However, now, decades after his fateful accident, he has died, giving peace and time to grieve to his family. “With hearts believing in Allah’s will and decree, and with deep sorrow and sadness, we mourn our beloved son: Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah have mercy on him, who passed away today,” his father, Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, quoted from the quoran on his death.
Two Decades Of Uncertainty
Despite the terrible damage to the young prince’s brain, his father never gave up hope that he would one day wake from his coma. Throughout the 20 years, he was regularly involved in the care of his son. By the time he passed away, he had reached the age of 36, having lived less than half awake.
The man was a well-known story with many online, being referred to as the ‘sleeping prince’. His passing has garnered a lot of attention, with many people wishing him well and offering their condolences to his father.
His father would regularly upload pictures of his son to social media throughout his 20-year coma. Often, during holidays, he would visit his son to celebrate together. However, he has finally passed away, and hopefully, his father can find peace in the fact.
There are few loves as strong and persevering as that of a parent. Although his father will grieve, he will finally be able to move on from his son’s tragic condition.
