While out enjoying the sun in his garden on a trampoline, a 7-year-old was hit by an out-of-control car, sustaining serious injuries.
The boy, living in Bohmte, Lower Saxony, was taken out by the car as it careened through his garden. The Volvo XC60 initially lost control and smashed into a few parked cars outside the boys’ home. As it continued on, it then smashed through a fence and into the back garden where the boy was bouncing on his trampoline.
The car slid through the yard, hitting the 7-year-old boy, and then flipping over. It continued at speed, eventually ending up half buried through the upper level of a shed, almost ten feet from the ground. The car had three boys and two adults in their forties as passengers.
The 7-year-old boy sustained serious injuries, and him and well as the passengers in the car, were all rushed to the hospital.
Bystanders Shocked By Out-of-Control Trampoline Mishap
The huge accident gained a lot of attention. The parents ran out to find their child injured, and a car buried in the upper level of a shed. According to the report, 50 firefighters, 12 emergency volunteers, 12 ambulances, two rescue helicopters, and more than a dozen police officers were in attendance.
“I was sitting on the balcony all afternoon, and when it happened, I was inside eating. I just heard it crash loudly and thought, ‘Holy cow, what just happened?'” a local told news outlet Focus. “We immediately ran outside and saw this car crash into the roof. The mother was just screaming. Then my boyfriend immediately called an ambulance, the police, everything.”
The 7-year-old boy has sustained serious injuries, as well as the passenger of the car. The driver had his license taken away, and a blood sample taken. However, it appears there was no hint of alcohol being involved in the car accident.
Police suspect that the car travelled as far as it did due to the slippery road surface it hit. It was certainly unlucky for the trampoline of the 7-year-old to be directly in the path of the oncoming car.
