The internet has brought us access to an incredible wealth of information. But perhaps the most interesting content comes from people sharing their relatable personal thoughts. Things like playing “The Floor is Lava” as a kid or looking out the window and pretending to be in a music video.
These Redditors were astonished when they discovered they weren’t alone in their eccentricities and that the unique things about them were shared by many others around the world.

The sound of someone chewing with their mouth open sends me into a quiet rage. I mean I am furious, my body vibrates and my blood pressure rises. I cant even begin to concentrate when it’s happening.

Sometimes I will lay down on the floor and stare at the ceiling. Then I’ll imagine that my house was flipped upside-down, and that the ceiling is now the floor, and how inefficient my floor plan is.
Especially with ceiling fans murdering your ankles.

I experience random, involuntary shudders about once or twice a day.

Letting water run down your arms and spray off your fingertips whilst in the shower, pretending you are some kind of wizard.
It’s so specific and I no longer feel alone.

Living another life in my head where I got all the choices right and didn’t mess up. Maladaptive daydreaming.

Tetris Syndrome. It’s where you dedicate so much time to a game that you start to see it everywhere. For me it was playing too much of a game, then being unable to dream about anything but playing the game, or to stop thinking about it while I doze off.
So many games of Civ V entirely in my head. So, so many games…that I was always losing for some reason.

Stopped initiating contact with friends and ended up with no friends. We basically never talked again.

I play drums with my fingers on any surface available. The more varied the volume, dynamics or sounds of the surface, the better.
Also, I tap my fingers in sequence, first one hand, then the other, same order. Sometimes I get annoyed by this and deliberately break the pattern.

I can’t stand up and leave the room without checking my pockets twice to see if I got my keys, cellphone and wallet on me.

Other people apparently enjoy pooling water in their arms in the shower then hearing the smack as it hits the floor.

Sometimes when I read a line of dialogue in a book I’m reading I’ll sort of read it aloud quietly under my breath with the same facial expression I imagine the character would make, like I’m acting out the scene or something. Feels really weird when I catch myself doing it.

Sometimes my eyes water when I yawn, which I always found embarrassing when I was younger and would be afraid people would think I was crying.
I watched a video in 8th grade about… I don’t know what. But one of the guys in the video mentioned that he hadn’t cried in ages except for his eyes watering a bit when he yawned. Everyone else in the class had a confused look on their face, but I was thinking “I understand you my friend… I understand you even if no one else does.” Felt a lot better about it after that.

Having made up and in depth fake conversations (with another person) in your head of things that either never happened, are completely altered or are played out in a scenario that hasn’t even occurred.

I found out that precordial clutch syndrome (AKA the random stabbing pain you sometimes get in your ribs for a few seconds) is an actual thing, and not just my body being weird. It’s incurable, but totally harmless, BTW.

I enjoy Pineapples on my pizza.

Someone posted about how they often had nightmares where they realize they have a class that they forgot about and never attended. I thought I was the only one until I found the comment which had several hundred replies from other people who had it.

I saw a joke about not sleeping on the left side of the bed because that’s “where my laptop sleeps.” Glad I’m not the only one.

When I eat mac and cheese, I like to put one macaroni on each prong of the fork.

I converse with myself throughout the day, and usually to fall asleep. I’m my own best friend.

If I brush past something and one of my hands touches it, I have to touch it with the other hand otherwise I’m unbalanced.
Or if I touch any fingertip to my thumb, I then have to go through and do it with the other 7 fingers. Each to their own hands thumb. Sometimes if I’m also talking to someone and I go through them all and accidentally do the first one again, I have to do it all again. There may or may not have been quite a few times where I get stuck in a loop of doing it.

I’m scared of seaweed rubbing against my leg whilst swimming in the ocean. I learned I’m not alone yesterday.

I eat French fries one at a time. And apparently very intently. My boyfriend makes fun of me for it all the time.
He assumes everyone else eats fries by the handful and very carelessly.

When I was a kid they changed the shape of Trix cereal from balls to fruit shaped. For me the taste of the cereal completely changed and I didn’t like it anymore, but everyone I told said it was all in my head. I completely forgot about this for over 20 years until I saw someone else mention that they also stopped liking Trix after the shape change.

During car trips I would visualize a nimble person skipping obstacles and jumping through poles. It seems so oddly specific that anyone learning it’s actually common must have dropped surprised.

Still viscerally afraid of “monsters” in dark corners and at the windows well into adulthood. Thought it was weirdly immature, but apparently not.
