From being ungrateful towards free vacation paid by father-in-law, to the guy who asked the bartender for his tip money back, people share the most obnoxious thing theyve seen someone do.

I worked at a festival next to a funnel cake booth. A nice guy drops a 50 for the next 10 people in line, so each get a free cake. Two people take their free cakes gratefully, but the third is a middle aged woman with a sour face. She wants all of the remaining 8 funnel cakes for herself alone. The guy in the booth told her no and wouldn’t even give her one even if she bought it. But for real, the fact that she even tried is so annoying!
I was at my local book store on Black Friday and they had a bunch of books autographed by different authors. I really wanted a signed copy of Bruce Dickinsons new autobiography, so I was the very first person in line. The woman behind me wanted a signed copy of Neil Gaimans new book (They only had 10 copies). She had driven over 3 hours to get one of these books.
So as soon as the doors open I run over to get my book, but right on my heels is a little old man who runs over to the Neil Gaiman books and grabs all 10 of them. The woman who came all this was clearly upset, so I went over to the guy and half jokingly said, You know, those are all copies of the same book. He scoffs at me and says, Kid, you have no idea how much these sell for on eBay! I just got more irritated and said, I know what these are worth, this is my nicer way of saying you are being greedy! He just looked shocked anyone called him out. An employee came over and informed him that it was only one signed book per a customer.
He eventually stomps off with one copy of the book and the woman got her copy. I was interested in getting another signed book by a different author and asked if I could get multiple copies as long as they where different books. He just laughs and says, “Oh there wasnt actually a limit. He was just being a giant jerk and I didnt want him to get all those books.
We visited family overseas, including my dad, who I hadnt seen in a decade. My dad went all out and got us a cabin on a nearby (2 hour drive) nature reserve. He saved a long time and spent a lot of money to take us to different areas in said reserve to see wildlife and enjoy scenery. His birthday was that week. At the party his wife made a point that she was upset she couldnt get him an expensive ring she liked by saying, because you kids came down and cost us so much. He doesnt even like rings. He wanted to make memories with his children.
I have season tickets to basketball for the college I went to. There is an elderly couple that have the tickets directly in front of me. They are super nice and have had season tickets for 40 years. At one game there was a jerk in a purple shirt in front of them who stood up the entire game blocking their view (standing is only acceptable in the student section). The older guy asked him to sit and he said no. I asked him to sit and he said no. Then another season ticket holder near us started to chant “sit down, purple shirt!” Soon the entire section was chanting at him. When he got up to leave, everyone cheered.
So I was at a visitation/viewing for a death in the family. My uncle had just passed. My cousin (his daughter) was about 6 months pregnant at the time. She was walking over to the chair beside her father’s casket. Her horrible boyfriend noticed and quickly walked over, just as she was about to sit down, and took the chair. He pretended like he didn’t even notice she was there. So my poor cousin had to squat on the floor beside him, upset because she had just lost her father. The guy didn’t even bat an eye. He locked eyes with me when he stole her spot and I just shook my head. It didn’t faze him. Luckily they are no longer together.
My ex-best friend cheated on her boyfriend of two years and after she told him, he forgave her because he just is that good of a guy. She broke up with him anyways and then proceeded to lead him on while dating other people.
One night after her new guy wasn’t answering the phone, she went and picked up her ex-boyfriend. While they were in the car, the new guy calls and she takes her ex back and drops him back where she picked him up.
We stopped being friends because of the way she treated him.
I was taking my lunch break outside at my old job (mall). A couple is walking up to the door, wife with a double stroller, husband looking at his phone. He opens a single door for himself, instead of hitting the giant button that would open both doors so his wife and children could easily enter the building. She asks for help, he says nothing, still looking at his phone and lets the door slam in her face. I still get pissed thinking about it.
I was third in line at a gas station to pay when the customer at the register drops a $5 bill or whatever out of his pocket when he goes to pay. The jerk in front of me puts his foot on the bill so when the first guy leaves, he can clean up. So when the first guy turns to leave I say, “Hey man, you dropped some cash.” The look on the second guys face as he moves his foot to reveal the money was wonderful. I felt like a hero that day.
A couple years ago my friend and I would go dancing on fridays at a specific bar where a lot of business men hung out. The previous Friday my friend was hitting it off with a guy (we’ll call him guy 1) and his friend (guy 2) kept hitting on me. I wasn’t into it although I was being nice enough so it wouldn’t be awkward. They invited us back for A beer and we obliged. I didn’t want her to go solo because she was very drunk and I was not. She made out with guy 1 while I refused all advances from guy 2.
The next Friday we are at the same bar, I was talking to a guy I knew who worked at the bar when guy 2 comes up to me and whispers in my year, “I graduated from Perdue and make more in a month than this guy will make in his life… you’re making a mistake.” I’m still disgusted.
I had a party at my parents house a few years ago, and there was Couple A that didn’t get along with Girl B. I can’t remember what their argument was about, although I’m sure it wasn’t anything big.
Anyway, at one point in the party I saw B angrily go into my basement. Now, I fancied B so I followed her because she looked upset. Turns out she went down there to cry because Couple A had said some pretty awful things.
Anyway, after consoling B for awhile, I decided it best to tell Couple A to leave. I walked upstairs and saw them across the room. They had B’s sunglasses, and they were both staring at them. Then I watched Couple A deliberately break them in half. Then they exchanged a truly child-like evil grin, hid the pieces in a nearby cupboard, and left the party while laughing.
To this day it’s one of the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen a person do. What horrible people!
I worked at a restaurant. We were slammed and a woman kept demanding that I get little things for her, even though it wasnt my job and I had other things to do. I would get one thing to her and she would look at me like Im stupid and say, And this other thing! Im not your waitress! I had enough and finally just put the stuff on her table as I rushed by before she could make more demands.
She told the manager on me! She said I swore, threw silverware at her, rolled my eyes, and stormed off. She did it to get free food, Im sure of it. The waitress of her table later yelled at me, too because apparently the woman also didnt leave a tip and that was my fault, which other waitresses overheard and denied was true.
Everyone in this situation was terrible. It was one of the numerous times I had a panic attack in the bathroom at this terrible job.
Back when the Classic NES was being sold, we had a rare opportunity to get one as they were only selling two consoles, the catch? Wait outside of Target at 4 in the morning.
So we got there and we ended up being the 2nd person in line behind this woman and her husband. She turned around and asked us, “hey, are you also here for the NES?” To which I said, “yeah, it’s so hard to get these things so I’m pretty stoked I get to buy one.” She just smiled at me and said, “well hopefully everyone gets what they want.” About two hours later an employee comes out and tells us, “Ok, we’re going one person at a time.” So lady and her husband went in first. Five minutes later they came out, carrying the only two consoles. She looked at me and just said, “yeah, we did separate transactions! Maybe next time you’ll be lucky.” I never got her name and I’m still so pissed about it.
It was open house at my daughter’s 2nd grade class. We were looking at her grades and noticed my daughter got a zero on a homework assignment. My wife worked with her on the assignment, it was complete, so no reason to not turn it in. The teacher insisted she never turned it in, swears she saw the blank assignment fall out of her book bag, and I thought it wasn’t like my daughter to not do an assignment.
The teacher was being 100% condescending. She said she is willing to let our daughter do the assignment for partial grade. My daughter sat right down and knocked it out. Then the teacher gave us a stack of graded work and we left. I’m looking through the stack of graded papers and actually find the original finished assignment! I turned around and stormed back to class and showed it to the teacher. All she said was, “Oh, I must have missed that.”
I work in retail and one time I was the only one covering the front when the phone rang. I already had a few customers in line, but I picked it up like usual and said, “thanks for calling, can I put you on hold for a minute,” and this guy on the other end goes, “no, if you put me on hold I’ll hang up and call somewhere else.”
So I stayed on the line, but I couldn’t tell him whether we had what he wanted or not because I wasn’t allowed to leave the front. So he came in right before closing time and chewed me out. It went something like this: “hey, why didn’t you help me? I’m a customer! I’m important!” and I went, “hey, there were 3 other customers here first. If you would’ve let me put you on hold I could’ve helped you better.”
Then he came in the next day and complained to the manager about me. (he didn’t do anything because this is the only complaint I’ve ever received). Only time I’ve ever had a customer make me cry.
I work every year at a local theme park for their Halloween event as a scare actor. This theme park decided to start selling hard liquor at the event which means people are getting very drunk. So eventually this drunk guy comes up and screams in my face after I tried to scare him and his group. Now this happens quite often but luckily for me, I was a clown this year which means quips and comebacks arent out of character for me, so as he walks away I turn around and yell, THE SCARIEST PART OF THAT WAS YOUR FACE! to which he stopped turned around and said yeah?! Well Im an Instagram model, so SCREW YOU! I bet his parents are very proud of him.
I was working Christmas at my old pub. There was a Christmas Party from a nearby office at our pub. This guy got the next round in, and paid with a fifty bill. I took out his 25 change and he told me, loudly, to keep it as a tip. I was absolutely blown away and thanked him. After his colleagues all got their drinks and said how nice he was, he walked back to the bar for his pint and silently gestured for me to hand him his money back.
Instant sadness. I decided to ruin his day by saying loud enough for his friends to hear: “If you really want to take that tip back, here you go, sir.”
What an absolute jerk. At Christmas!
I used to work at a resale clothing store chain, where we were incredibly understaffed and the managers and customers alike were huge pain in the neck. Customers would let their kids run wild, throw clothes all over the place, all the typical terrible things customers do…
The hands down most obnoxious thing that happened, though, was when a customer had something he didn’t want and went to just put it on top of a random clothes rack. I intercepted him, offering to take it for him and holding out my hand. He just looked me in the eyes and threw the item on top of a different clothes rack before walking away. It’s a minor thing that happened a while back, but it still pisses me off when I think about it.
I have low vision (about 8%) so I sometimes use a cane if I’m going somewhere I’ve never been before. I can see things up close though.
One day, I was at this huge market, and my friend was looking at stuff, but it was really busy, so I was just standing back while he checked out scented candles or something. I noticed these teenage boys, they were about 14 – 15 years old. They sort of crept up beside me and started waving their hands in front of my eyes and pulling faces and giving me the finger really close to my face, but all silently. I had sunglasses on, so I just kept still… until I suddenly took them off and looked them right in the eye and said “I can see you!” They jumped and screamed and ran away, like little kids.
My family went on a cruise in Alaska. At one point I, an 11 year old girl, was in the elevator alone when two men in their 50s came in. One asked me, “do you like to ride the elevator?” and I was creeped out, because I know old men shouldn’t be talking to me, and I felt trapped. I nervously answered “yea?” One guy chuckled and when it was their stop, they stepped out and Mr. Chuckles said, “enjoy the ride,” and pushed every button on the elevator in this huge cruise ship. I ended up getting sea sick that night. Still pissed off about it.
My younger brother came home from daycare with chicken pox recently. Apparently, the people running the place noticed another kid whose behaviour was off. They spoke to the parents of this kid who said Well thats probably because he has chicken pox. The people running the daycare asked why they would send their child if they knew he was sick, and the parents simply said we had to go to work. Im all the more pissed off about it now because Im lying in bed with chicken pox myself.
I worked in a McDonald’s kitchen. Some guy parked his brand new sports car and walked in. He was wearing a designer Calvin Klein jacket and what had to be a $500 tracksuit. He proceeded to buy fifty of our promotional chicken strips. We only keep about six of them ready this late in the day. It would be twenty minutes at the very least to cook all these.
So I tell him that and he says,”Don’t you know how rich I am? I make more money in a day than you do in a year…” I checked in the walk-in fridge to see if we even had that many chicken. We absolutely did not. The entire kitchen agreed to not say anything about it. He threatened to sue when the manager told him we don’t have any more. He got back into his car, peeled out of the parking lot and nearly wrapped his car around a pole. We had to throw away almost all of that chicken because nobody ordered any more that day. Good times.
My parents are pretty wealthy and very generous so for my nephew’s 14th birthday, my husband’s birthday, and my brother-in-law’s birthday, which are all within 2 weeks of each other, they decided to take the whole family to Las Vegas and foot the whole thing. My sister decided to surprise my brother-in-law with the news the morning of.
The first thing out of his mouth is ‘Vegas? Man, I wanted to go to an island or something. I’ve been to Vegas like 4 times. Couldn’t we find somewhere else?’ Ungrateful jerk! He’s always been a leech but that really takes the cake when you’re getting a free 4 day vacation and don’t even say thank you to your in-laws who took you.
We were on holiday in the Dominican and had decided to do a bit of snorkelling with a group from the hotel. The instructor / guide gave us a really interesting talk about the coral reef and its importance to the ocean. He also made a point of saying how endangered it was and that we shouldnt touch it whilst we were swimming.
Of course, less than 15 minutes in, I saw one of the group dive down, snap a piece of it off and put it in his pocket. Most obnoxious thing Ive ever seen.
A few months after I graduated University, my girlfriend, her brother and his wife, and I, all went out for wings and a few beers. The waiter ended up being a university classmate of mine. He was a good guy, and was trying to get in to law school. I had landed a pretty good paying job, and left him a good tip. I think the bill for my girlfriend and me was about $20 (this was almost 25 years ago). Well, on a $20 bill, I left a $20 tip.
My girlfriend’s brother sees all the money I had left, and he takes my tip, and puts it towards his bill. He said I left “way too much,” and basically stole the money and used it for his bill! I was so shocked that I had no idea what to do. My girlfriend was too embarrassed to say anything. This was almost 25 years ago, and I still cannot believe what a jerk that guy was.
In college, I remember being quite interested in a particular web company local to my area. Mind you, my background is in accounting, not IT (although I know a thing or two).
During the same time frame, I have classes with someone who struggles with certain things in accounting and Excel. I help said person out, because that’s what you do, right?
Fast forward a year or so, and I’m applying for an accounting position at said tech company AND person I helped out is the interviewing manager. (The luck, right?)
… she passes me up saying I don’t know enough Excel for this entry level intern position.
I work at a restaurant. One night an older couple came in about a half hour before close, the man was really nice but the lady was a total snob. At one point I was bringing a mop bucket to the back so I could start mopping the floors early, as they were the only couple in there. Mop bucket had a broken wheel so it was extremely hard to maneuver and while moving it, I accidentally bumped the chair of the mean old woman, no water was spilled, the chair didn’t even move, just a bump. I was immediately met with a glare and I apologized profusely, thinking that was the end of it. I go back to the table to find out that they’ve stiffed me and that the woman poured sour cream ALL OVER the floor that she saw me getting ready to mop, stepped in it, and tracked it all the way out the door.
My ex moved across the country to San Diego. I was going to follow suit after finishing school. I paid $400 to go out and see him during my spring break, per his request. I land, get in his car, just about squealing excited to see him, we drive to his apartment and RIGHT OUTSIDE HIS APARTMENT DOOR he tells me he started seeing someone else and shes INSIDE NOW. Talk about literately having no respect for someone.
I had to watch them bicker and fight and tried to play it off real cool even though it hurt a lot. I screamed at him as well. Then he started telling me about OTHER people he was sleeping with behind my back, and then says, well, not like I have to tell you what its like to be lead on. I hopped on the next plane out of there for an additional $250. Worst part was, I couldn’t even go back to my home state because its more than double for tickets, so I had to go back to Boston and then drive my sorry butt two and a half hours home so I could cry and lay in bed for a week with crippling depression. He helped cover none of it.
