While taking his daughter to a parking lot to teach her to drive, a dad lost his life when the young driver lost control, causing a fatal crash.
The 64-year-old dad was sitting in the passenger seat, instructing his 15-year-old daughter as she learned to drive. While practicing in a lot by the Coast Highway in California, she lost control. The resulting collision has left her hospitalized, and her father dead.
The crash occurred while the dad was trying to teach his kid how to drive in a parking lot. Tragically, she lost control of the vehicle and drove through a barrier. The car then rolled down an embankment, killing her dad and seriously injuring her.
The report from the event stated, “a single vehicle, operated by a young driver with a permit, traveled from the upper parking lot of Gelson’s Market, breached a fence barrier, and continued down an embankment before coming to rest on Coast Highway.”
The dad was pronounced dead at the scene, his child was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Sorrow For Dad Who Lost His Life Teaching Daughter To Drive
The local police department has expressed its sadness at the loss of the 64-year-old’s life. He was simply trying to be a good father and died in the process. “It’s a tragedy that certainly affects the immediate family, and it expands to our community,” the local police spokesperson said.
“It’s a difficult situation when you’re dealing with an accident, and somebody loses their life,” The police added. “A father was being a good parent, trying to teach his daughter how to drive, which resulted in a tragedy like this. Our condolences go out to the family and the friends of these loved ones.”
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. However, it seems clear at this point that the car lost control as the dad attempted to teach his kid to drive, resulting in a crash as it careened off the side of the parking lot.
The family will undoubtedly be grieving the loss of a father. At present, his daughter is still in care, but will hopefully make a full recovery.
