Knock Knock. Whose there? Snake.
Ring doorbells have been a huge leap forward in suburban life surveillance. We’ve seen everything from home explosions to life-saving parents. Their motion detection activation sees all, and if you’re near a door, you’re on camera.
However, one woman was shocked to see an uninvited guest appear on her camera doorbell. She wasn’t expecting anyone, so the activation was a surprise. When Anna, a resident of Cypress, Texas, looked to see who rang her doorbell, she stared right into the beady eyes of a massive snake.
“I got a motion alert from my doorbell and was shocked to see a wild chicken snake slithering down my wall — something I’d never seen before,” Anna said in a report obtained by People.
Thankfully for Anna, she was able to see the snake before she answered her doorbell. Choosing to ignore the call to her door, she left the chicken snake in peace. These animals, also known as rat snakes, can grow up to 7 feet long. This slithery customer looked to be pretty substantial, too.
The snake, which is actually known to be quite shy, was just enjoying the cage beneath her doorbell. It could be seen weaving in and out of the cage, just having a grand old time, completely unaware of the shock it had caused.
Doorbell Snake Was Probably Just Looking For Eggs
Thankfully, the chicken snake isn’t venomous or much of a people-eater. It is a constrictor, so it likes to squish its prey down and swallow it whole. Mostly, though, the long guy is into eating small rodents, eggs, and frogs. It posed little threat to the surprised resident.
This didn’t stop Anna from being shocked to see such a large snake on her Ring doorbell. Posting on a Ring doorbell page, she told other users, “It was the first time catching this on video, and honestly, it gave me chills. I watched it live right after the notification and couldn’t believe it.”
Her door-mounted CCTV camera saved her from a nasty surprise. Imagine if she had walked out to find the slithery customer waiting for her there.
