Superfans of artists are always a bit weird with their obsessions and behavior. Joe Jonas had one very surprising incident where a fan managed to sneak into their private space and hid behind a curtain.
Some fans forget that just because their favorite celebrity is always in the public eye, they also have private lives. It can make people feel like they have a right to intrude. There have been all sorts of crazed obsessions in the past, with some of them turning dangerous.
Who can forget the ‘Bjork Stalker’ who posted her a booby-trapped parcel, and then killed himself. Others get so wrapped up in their fantasies that they create whole scenarios involving themselves and certain famous folk.
Stalking behaviour is still a crime, no matter how famous people are. It’s still usually a criminal invasion of privacy. So, it’s understandable why Joe Jonas was pretty disturbed to find a loony fan hiding behind his curtain.
Probably Just The Wind
As Joe Jonas got to his hotel room while touring, he noticed the curtain twitch. But he was exhausted, and just put it down to the air conditioning. “I walked into my hotel room, and the curtain moved,” Jonas told SiriusXM’s BPM, “I sat on the couch; it had been a long travel day. I was like, ‘Huh, maybe it’s air conditioning.”
The fan, in a frenzy of obsession, dashed from behind the curtain at Joe Jonas. Thankfully, though, his bodyguard was on the scene and removed them before they could get their hands on him. What they planned to do is anyone’s guess.
Joe Jonas presumed that the fan managed to get inside his hotel room and wait behind the curtain through her contacts in the hotel. She must have snuck in and lain in wait for him. It doesn’t say much for the hotel security to let that happen.
Anyone wanting to jump out at their celebrity obsessions like that isn’t right. That level of fandom is bordering on the insane. But, as a famous person, fans like these can become quite commonplace. They just have to pray they don’t get dangerous.
