Using the boys’ changing room as a young man, the smell of body spray would often be choking, so I am not surprised a teen has died from inhalation. It was going to happen eventually.
Being a teen comes with its challenges. There is a wild influx of hormones. Terrible skin plagues many. And worst of all comes the increase in body odor. Teens should be walked through the sheep dip at least twice a day to make them socially acceptable. However, many just use insane amounts of body spray.
One teen has pushed it to the limit and died from using too much body spray in an enclosed space. The British teen was found on the landing outside his room in the children’s home where he had been staying. In his room were found 42 cans of body and hair spray. The collection hinted at a hoarding issue.
Obsessive Compulsive Body Spray Usage By Tragic Teen
The young man had a history of self-harm, but had not been showing any signs of suicidal tendencies. However, the use of body spray by the teen had become a problem. According to his mother, “He would not take showers but would stand there with a deodorant and spray half the can on him.” On top of this, he would add to his smell with more scent. “Then he would spray aftershave to cover up BO,” she continued.
His obsessive-compulsive behaviour around using a shower and body spray led to the teen’s death. He was found to have died from “circulation collapse caused by butane gas inhalation.” There were no drugs or alcohol found in his body, and it was being ruled out as suspicious.
Most teens already wear far too much deodorant due to their new body smell taking them off guard, but there has to be a limit. This young man clearly had something going on in his mind and was not happy.
Either way. Make sure your teens shower regularly. Not only is it bad for everyone around them, but their constant body spray inhalation is terrible for their lungs, too. There are all sorts of nasty chemicals in the sprays.
