The last thing you expect to see while ordering McDonald’s drive-thru is a boa constrictor waiting to take your order.
In Cary, North Caroline, Talena Chavis received a call from a rather concerned McDonald’s customer. A customer had come across a snake, lurking beneath the drive-thru window. Being the rather adventurous type, they had removed it and put it elsewhere in the restaurant.
But the docile and rather large snake wasn’t there to order, and it needed to be moved on. This is where Chavis came in, known as the NC Snake Catcher. The couple that called the snake catcher had placed the Boa Constrictor in a box and were holding it in the McDonald’s.
Speaking about the whole experience, Chavis praised the gentle handling of the large reptile. “It’s so good that she and her husband intervened. Because I have zero doubt that they were the reason there was a positive outcome for that snake.”
Initially, they thought that the snake was a Python. But, when the snake handlers arrived, they noted it was a rather large Boa Constrictor.
Would You Like To Supersize That Snake?
There are a few snakes native to North Carolina, but the Boa Constrictor found in McDonald’s certainly isn’t one of them. Chaves said that in her nine years of snake wrangling, they had never been called for a snake like this.
“We didn’t expect to get something quite as exotic as we did,” Chavis said. “Nor as big.” But they knew how to handle it regardless. According to them, the snake was around four feet long and very calm. It seemed like it had been a domestic pet until quite recently.
Chaves suspects that the Boa Constrictor made its way into the McDonald’s after escaping or being let loose. After the capture, they put out a notice in the local area, letting people know the escaped pet was in safe hands.
However, nobody came forward to claim it. Now, it has been rehomed with one of the NC Snake Catcher employees. Hopefully, they give it a few chicken nuggets here and there. It clearly has a penchant for the fast food chain.
