Grocery prices are getting ridiculous, but Walmart charging $1300 for avocados is criminal.
A Walmart shopper was almost charged over a thousand dollars for avocados, causing him to lose his mind. A Reddit user recalled the moments the crazy man went crazy his cool in the store.
Self-checkouts are supposed to streamline the shopping process and save stores money. However, this presumes that the people using them aren’t total idiots. The problem with that is that most are morons. The overcharged avocado man was a prime example.
The employee at Walmart explains how the situation was already out of control even before the $1300 avocado debacle. “This guy came up with a bunch of stuff. He said one item said it was 9.99 on the shelf, but was coming up 19.99. We got team lead to check it out, got it fixed for him. Same thing with another Item. That one we couldn’t change, and then another item we couldn’t change. Then he had avocados.”
When he punched in the code for the avocados, everything went wrong, and the total came out to thousands of dollars.
Furious Walmart Shopper Pushed Over The Edge By Avocados
“He accidentally hit 999 avocados instead of the 9 he intended, his total jumped up to over $1300.” Rather than simply rectifying the issue like a calm person, the man began freaking out. Ranting and raving, he screamed about calling the police. He was being robbed! The Walmart avocados were daylight robbery!
“He starts calling 911, and I get our team lead again. We get AP over, the cops he called show up. This dude creates a whole circus, then shows everyone the self-checkout screen. Says Walmart is robbing him,” the employee explains.
He demands that he be compensated for his pain and suffering. But, the store has had enough and trespass him. Eventually, the ranting, raving man is taken away in handcuffs, without his $1300 avocados.
I get it. Using those self-checkout machines can be infuriating, especially when they stop working. But, ‘pain and suffering’ is a little but much.
Give it a few years, and $1300 will be the price of discount Walmart avocados.
