The ‘experts’ have been watching you shower, and they don’t like the way you’re doing it.
According to one alleged expert on TikTok, if you pee while in the shower, you may be training your brain with bad habits. She says that women in particular should avoid the practice. According to one TikTok poster claiming to be an OB-GYN, it can ruin a woman’s pelvic floor.
Additionally, our brains can quickly learn to associate standing with time for peeing. Even men can start to link the sound of running water with urination.
Our brains can be trained to make physical response associations. Pavlov himself linked triggers with responses when he trained his dog to salivate at the sound of a bell. In the same way, we will learn that running water equals time to pee. Women’s bodies will also, apparently, no longer associate standing with staying dry.
@kingsley.502 Hot take but don’t pee standing up in the shower or anywhere for that matter. Ladies you are training your bladder that it’s okay to empty while standing. Don’t do it! This could cause bladder leakage. #womenshealth #themoreyouknow💫 ♬ Let's Go Swimming – Palace
Crowd Calls BS On Shower Pee Conspiracies
The original TikTok went viral, and most people aren’t happy with the anti-pee propaganda. It looks like there are a lot of women out there who like to give their feet an extra rinse.
Linking the sound of water or standing with needing to pee is a rather bizarre claim. I spend most of my time sitting on the toilet, looking at my phone. It doesn’t make me want to fill my pants every time I open Instagram reels, though.
The claims that it can destroy a pelvic floor are also wild. If you only pee in the shower, you may have a problem, probably a few, but once in a while is fine. Anyone genuinely concerned about their pelvic floor can easily remedy this with some exercise that will more than counteract a quick toilet break while rinsing off.
Some claim that it is also unhygienic. I’m not sure they realise that people are peeing in the shower while it’s on. It literally serves as a full body douche. They can spend as much time as they like cleaning off the pee afterwards.
I think these so-called doctors work for Big Water. Keep peeing in the shower, it’s saving you around 1,100 gallons of water per year. In fact, start peeing in the bath, too.
