Giving your baby an original or powerful name is all well and good. In fact, it’ll probably help them become someone important later in life. However, one mother has come under fire for cursing her baby with one of the most stupid names I have ever heard.
Initially, the baby was going to have the name Serena, which is nice enough. But the mother decided that it wasn’t quite what she was looking for. It simply didn’t have the ring she wanted, so the baby naming search continued.
A shocked family member reached out on Reddit to voice her concerns about the strange name her cousin had chosen for her baby. In the post, she revealed that the mother liked the sound of Serena, but wanted a little extra on the end. So, she had chosen to go with Vaselinea. Like Nivea and Vaseline squeezed together.
Not only is the name obscene, but it sounds terrible, too. There are absolutely no redeeming factors about naming a baby Vaselinea. According to the mother, though, she “wanted that nea sound at the end.” And to clarify, it’s pronounced vah-suh-lee-nea, like that makes it any better.
And It’s A Resounding No
There are plenty of terrible names out there, but Vaselinea is up there with the worst. She will be eternally mocked for her medical sounding name. Some parents just seem unable to think about the damage a baby name like that could do. There isn’t even a good way to shorten it. Vase? Linea?
The comments on Reddit were all on the side of the shocked family member in her concern for the new, terrible baby name. “Honestly, this subreddit continues to reinforce my belief that a decent percentage of the population should not reproduce, not until they gain some wisdom at least. If this is what you are considering naming your child, you have no business having one,” one commenter added.
Hopefully, it was just a case of prenatal madness, and as her mind clears, she will see a little clearly. I get that she wants the nea sound at the end. But there are many other options.
