I think most of us dream of one day winning the lotto, but actually going out and buying a ticket is another thing altogether. One man has attributed his win to divine interference while he slept.
According to Ricky Nunnery Jr. from Sanford, he had a dream in which he won big. Taking it as a sign, he headed down to his local lotto outlet and bought himself a ticket. $10 down, but up on hopes and dreams, he used the scratch-off ticket.
“Something just told me to play,” he told the lotto company, referencing the nagging sound of addiction. So, hands shaking, he played his ticket. And, lo and behold, the angels of gambling had indeed visited him while he slept. They had guided his hand, and he had taken home the million-dollar prize.
He was given the option to either take a lump sum of $600,000 or annual installments of $50,000 over 30 years. He opted for the lump sum. With the current state of the dollar these days, that’s probably wise. $50,000 will probably only buy a loaf of bread in the next 3 years at this rate.
Everyone Takes Their Slice of Lotto Win
By the time old Ricky got his money, he was left with $430,503. That’s significantly less than the one million advertised, but he’s still happy with his windfall. He says he’s going to use it to pay off debts, and then invest the rest.
Apparently, those little voices in your head telling you to gamble, take up smoking again, or just have one lunchtime beer are worth paying mind to. You never know where they’re going to get you. Gambling is a serious addiction. Although many people like to claim “the voices told them to play”, that’s just the habit kicking in.
Many people I write about say they had some kind of message or sign they attribute to their win. But that’s how the whole thing is supposed to work. It’s a way of giving the hopeless hope. There’s a reason the lotto is known as the idiot tax.
