Riley Hawk has followed in his father’s footsteps and has earned his stripes as a pro. He’s even made it into Tony Hawk’s games.
For anyone lucky enough to enjoy the Tony Hawk games when they first came out, they know how monumental they were. The coolest soundtracks paired with the most insane tricks, and a roster of the golden era pro skaters.
Everyone was playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater because they were incredible. Now, the classics are being remastered from the ground up. This includes cleaning up the textures, refreshing the movements, and keeping that magic. As a show of respect to Tony Hawk’s professional skater son, he’s been included in the new lineup.
A Skate Down Memory Lane
Tony Hawk’s son is now 32 years old, so there is no doubt that he played the games growing up. Now, though, he can introduce his kids to it, and they can land some sick tricks as Riley.
Speaking to People, he explained his experience. “I know myself, it just brings me back to being a kid playing those games. It’s pretty cool to be able to relive that a little bit. I feel like it’s done in a way that feels right, where it still has that nostalgic feel, but with more modern stuff.” The remaster has stayed true, but added to the game too.
Having played the remaster himself, there are tweaks Tony Hawk’s son likes.” He says there are “new characters and different things in the game that weren’t there before, that maybe have changed in skateboarding over the last 20-something years.”
Now, Tony Hawk’s son gets to rub digital shoulders with the all-time greats. Names such as Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, and Rodney Mullen are all in there.
Humble as ever, he says, “I feel like I never would have expected to play myself in one of those games. But I don’t even choose myself if I were to play just because I don’t want to be myself. I want to be the people that I look up to. So it’s cool in that way. You just get to pick the person that you identify with the most.”
