Birthday parties are the highlight of the year for most kids, so when they get left out or rejected, it’s quite a hard blow. One mother was left shocked after her child was turned away from a birthday party when she had already RSVP’d.
The video, shared on TikTok, explains what happened, recounting the story her friend told her. “Her five-year-old got invited to a birthday party. She RSVP’s on time, ‘Thanks so much for the invite, we’d love to come see you Saturday,'” the woman begins.
An entire class of kids had been given an invitation to the birthday party of one of their classmates. Instead of writing a select list, every child had been told they were welcome. It’s extravagant, but maybe the parents can afford a big deal.
So, the mother RSPVs with a thank you, and we will be there. However, the reply shocked her. “She gets this reply… ‘Thanks for your RSVP. I’m so sorry, but we’ve reached the limit for children attending the party.'”
The parent hadn’t accounted for all the children in the class attending the birthday party, Instead, they had limited seats, and seemed to work on a first-come come first serve basis. The mother was shocked, and the child was mortified.
No Birthday Party For You
The kid couldn’t understand why they had been invited, only to have their hopes of birthday cake and balloons crushed. “This little boy is devastated. He thought he couldn’t go anymore because he was naughty. Treating a five-year-old’s birthday party like it’s Saturday night at Prince in 2007. KBing people at the door. Insane,” the woman said on her video.

She turned to the internet for advice on what the woman should do about the situation. Of course, the choice is down to the parents of the birthday boy. But there are rules to these kinds of things. We try to shield children from real-life rejection like this as long as possible. It’s not easy for their little brains to understand.
There has been a wealth of mums wading in to give advice, from offering to pay for her child, to giving them a taste of their own medicine.
