Unruly kids without their parents are the bane of every environment. It’s understandable that a hotel employee took to an online forum to vent their frustrations at two unattended boys running riot, keeping other guests awake.
Having a good moan, the hotel employee explained what they were left to deal with. “They left an 8-year-old alone with his 12-year-old brother in the room. Their kids were running out and down the hallway, banging on doors, and security had to go up and stand outside the door until the parents returned.”
Why the parents thought it was okay to leave two boys unattended in a hotel is anyone’s guess. It certainly isn’t the hotel staff’s responsibility to take care of children. They hadn’t locked them in the room, and they had gotten loose, disturbing all the other hotel guests.
According to the original poster, the parents weren’t happy when they were reprimanded for leaving their boys. They had “the nerve to get upset when staff told your unsupervised kids they need to return to their rooms or need an adult present at all times.”
Parents’ Disregard For Their Boys And Guests
The boys were, really, just being boys, and so the blame is on the parents. The kids were unattended and probably bored being stuck in a hotel room. The parents were using the hotel as a place to leave their children while they went out on a jolly.
“Why would you even feel comfortable leaving your KIDS alone in an environment filled with people? Someone could easily walk off with your kid? Your kid could easily get hurt in the gym? The pool area? Wonder outside? End up on another floor and get snatched by someone?”
The safety connotations of leaving two boys unattended in a hotel don’t say much for the parents. As the original poster said, leaving kids alone in a hotel isn’t just irresponsible for the other guests. It’s also a hazard for the kids. Who knows who else is staying in the rooms?
