Priests just wanna have fun.
It’s a common misconception that priests have to keep their bodies completely covered and hidden from the public eye. If a priest wants to wear a bikini, that’s totally okay in the eyes of the lord. Of course, modesty is still supposed to be part of their life, but it’s the 21st century. A bikini is hardly the raciest of clothes. Or, so you would think.
Rev. Gerlyn, while picking up a tailored bikini, encountered a fellow bible basher with a slightly more Presbyterian outlook. The priest already knew that her bikini was going to be the subject of the conversation, and she braced herself.
“Either she’s gonna come and say ‘Oh, this is really cute’ or it could just go downhill, right?” the Rev said on TikTok. “I told myself, ‘Gerlyn just just be cool,’ and she comes up to me and she says, ‘Are you a priest or pastor?”
She confirmed that she was, indeed, a priest, and yes, she did have a bikini in hand. The occosting woman told Gerlyn that she didn’t think that she would be allowed to wear things like that. It just shows how much people like to expand on the words they read in their holy books.

But the priest, being a theologian and much more clued up on what the scripture actually says, set her right. “I chose to say, ‘Oh, you know we don’t really have anything that we can or cannot wear.” And she’s right. Most of the bible is up to interpretation, tragically, and that’s how she reads it.
@rev.gerlynhenry The whole encounter made me laugh and cry. 1. If I knew she wasn’t already connected with a church, I would’ve been nicer and explained more. 2. I don’t think modesty is an important virtue. 3. I’ve never been to a nude beach, it was just an example. 4. I hope y’all enjoy your summer 🙋🏽♀️

But the ratty little woman wanted a few last digs. Clearly, she was unhappy that the priest was comfortable wearing a bikini and going somewhere warm enough to sport it. “Well, modesty is a virtue,” the sour woman shot, before adding that she certainly wouldn’t go to her church.
I wonder if she would have cornered a male priest carrying out a pair of swim shorts?
The priest certainly sassed her back about her bikini, and hopefully gave the woman pause for thought. But people like this are usually so far up their own holy ass, they’re unable to see the light.
