Most people, when asked what they want to do when they grow up, answer along the lines of being a doctor or a TikTok star. But, sometimes you’ll come across guys like this weird man who aspire to hold the record for most backflips on fire.
28-year-old Ryan Luney is that weirdo. The record in question was the most number of standing backflips done in 30 seconds while on fire. I am not sure how he discovered that this was his calling, but he’s the best in the world at it, apparently.
The man set himself on fire, waited for a full body burn, and then whipped out seven complete backflips. An adjudicator had to be on scene to watch as well. It’s unclear if he broke a record or if he just set it. Either way, it now stands, and if you think you’re up for it, get flaming.
‘I Was Freezing,’ Says Man Who Was Literally On Fire
Luney was together enough post-full-body flame to give a brief interview after his amazing feat of flaming backflips. “I was freezing,” the backflip champion said. “I’m wearing a couple of layers underneath that are soaked in a gel and put in a fridge for 24 hours to help protect me from the fire — it was extremely cold.”
As if performing seven backflips on fire wasn’t enough, the man has to be modest about it, too. Eyebrowless, he explained his experience. “I’m on fire and I need to move quickly. The oxygen is burning up around me, so if I don’t keep moving, I could find it very difficult to breathe and find the heat overwhelming.”
This wasn’t the UK man’s first world record either. He also holds the record for most fire-breathing full corkscrew flips. What this dudes obsession with spinning around on fire is anyone’s guess. Someone really needs to check that everything is okay at home.
But what do I know? You won’t catch me setting myself on fire anytime, and I’ll stay with my feet on the ground as often as I can, thank you very much.
