After being considered missing for more than a year, a woman has turned herself in at a gas station, having no clue that she was being searched for in the first place.
Tori Milsak, a 35-year-old woman from Arkansas, had been registered as missing since June 6th, 2024. However, after more than a year, she decided to show up. Walking into a gas station, she turned herself in, asking employees to call the police.
The missing woman had disappeared from Hot Springs, Arkansas, and sparked concern in family members. According to police, she was of mental health concern. However, despite their searches, she was able to evade the investigations.
Now, a year later, surprised that people were searching for her, she’s given herself up.
Missing Woman Didn’t Go Too Far
When someone disappears, you would be forgiven for thinking that they run for the hills. But, for this missing woman, she only needed to go a few miles away. Tori Mislak turned herself in at a gas station only 55 miles from where she had been reported missing.
It was only when she saw herself as a missing person on TV that she knew she needed to let people know where she had gone. So, heading into a gas station, she had them call the police. However, she should have stayed missing.
When the police arrived, she was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She may be regretting her decision a little now, but her family is overjoyed. Her brother, speaking to WBRC, said, “Hope was lost. I mean, like everybody said, you hold onto that 1 percent that she’d be found alive, and she’s that 1 percent.”
He hasn’t spoken to her yet, but is happy to know she is safe in custody. For their family, it will be a case of rebuilding their lives with the missing woman. “Makes me very angry, not at Tori, but at some people. Now, it’s time to try to start the healing process and rebuild Tori’s life,” her brother explained.
It must be a very odd experience to discover yourself as a missing person.
