Asking someone to marry you has to be one of the most nerve-racking experiences in most people’s love lives. But one guy has set the bar high and proposed with an anxiety-inducing song and dance performance in a cinema for his, thankfully, now fiancée.
The whole event started like any other trip to the cinema. They were playing ‘Last from the Past’, which was Marisela’s favourite from the 90s. But when they went into the theater, there appeared to be some technical issues.
Not understanding that she was about to be proposed to, this just seemed to be a dampener on her night. But the host was pretty amusing, and he apologized and offered to entertain the crowd until it was up and running.
“At first, I even thought that the guy who said that there was something wrong with the showing, I thought that he was just like a funny guy,” she told CBS4. As an alternative to the movie, he offered to dance for them. It was a pretty odd alternative, but he went ahead with it anyway.
Then, one of the songs that more people have been proposed to with than maybe any other dropped. Marry You by Bruno Mars started blasting through the speakers, and the host began a routine. As he threw his moves around, more people joined in. Somehow, Marisela still didn’t realize she was about to be proposed to.
“More and more people started dancing. I was just soaking in everything that was happening, especially because of the song. I really liked that song, and it was really emotional for me. But it wasn’t until I saw a video of us showing on the big screen that’s when I realized it was for me. The show was for me.”
Pre-Movie Proposal
As she sat there, unaware that her boyfriend planned to propose, the show went on. More people came down from their seats to dance, and a picture of the two of them appeared on the screen. When it dawned on her what was happening, she was overwhelmed.
“I felt like I was in a movie myself. I just couldn’t believe it was happening to me. That I had someone who loved me so much that he went through all that just to ask me to marry him. So I just feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
It was cheesy as all hell, but it worked for them.
