It’s so easy to lose something as small as a wedding ring, and after it has been lost for 20 years, you would be forgiven for giving up all hope. But, against all odds, one woman was finally reunited with her sentimental jewelry.
While playing with her four young children, 20 years ago, Dana Popham lost her wedding ring. The small gold hoop flew off her finger in the bathroom. For days, she turned the room upside down, but to no avail. Convinced it was still there somewhere, she never gave up hope.
There was one spot in the room she was unable to get to, though. The fixed bathroom cabinet was the only place she couldn’t search for her lost wedding ring. “All these years I thought there was a 0.00001% chance that it was under that cabinet,” she told People.
At the time, she tried her best to look, using her phone light to see if she could catch a gleam of gold. But there was nothing. Now, however, as they renovate the bathroom, her 20-year-lost wedding ring has turned up.
@danapopham 20 years ago, I lost my wedding ring. I searched everywhere but always had this quiet feeling it might’ve slipped underneath our bathroom cabinet. It made no sense—it seemed impossible. But the thought never left me. Today, during our renovation, we were finally pulling that cabinet out. Something told me to record the moment… just in case. And somehow—miraculously—there it was. I am still shocked! My original wedding ring from 31 years ago. Covered in dust, but full of meaning. It’s not about the diamond. It’s about what it represents to me. The sweetness. The life we’ve lived. The family we’ve built. The love that’s still here. Sometimes the most precious things are still right there, just waiting to be found. 🤍 #emptynesters #LostAndFound #RealLifeLove #MarriageMoments #31YearsMarried #YoungMom #MomLifeUnfiltered #Renovation #Marriage #TikTokMoms #FaithInTheSmallThings #LoveThatLasts #love ♬ Our Love Was Beautiful – Instrumental Version – Straight White Teeth
She had a feeling it might be there, so she started recording as they finally moved the piece of bathroom furniture.
It’s The Thought That Counts
The video shared on TikTok shows her delight at finally seeing the lost ring after two decades. “I felt like every ounce of hope that I’ve ever had, I felt it in my gut, and in the reality of just all that emotion coming together, it was overwhelming. I was so happy.”
Of course, she hasn’t been ringless for the whole 20 years since she lost her ring. Initially, she replaced it with a cheap alternative. But, after a few years, her husband was good enough to buy her a new wedding set. But the original ring, although only cheap, had so much sentimental value.
“I was 19 years old. He was 21, we were broke. I mean, this ring’s maybe a little less than half a carat. It’s ‘little,’ but it’s so sweet and means so much,” Dana said. Now, she has been reunited with her original wedding ring and can wear it with all the memories it holds for her.
