When 9-year-old Gideon Kidd started his dog-petting mission in 2016, it was a humble blog that showcased the many dogs Gideon had met and petted along the way. Now, with his Twitter account, Gideon’s encounters have gained national attention.
If only we’d thought of this idea sooner!
Gideon always describes what it was like petting a certain dog and even gives a bit of background info on each dog.
I pet Oliver. He is a 1 1/2 year old goldendoodle. He can jump in the air for treats and loves belly rubs. Right when I pet him, he rolled right over and showed me his belly! pic.twitter.com/URQ1xWwMW7— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 6, 2018
I pet Snickers. She is a 14 year old golden doodle. Her owner got her for his wife right before his second deployment to Iraq. He wanted Snickers to keep his wife company and watch over her. pic.twitter.com/qhKtQw5cEU— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 5, 2018
I pet Stella. She is a 16 month old poodle and a show dog. She follows all sorts of commands, like shake, sit and stay. She can even bring back pheasants! Her caregiver got her for his granddaughter, but the dog helped him the most. When he was depressed, she stayed with him. pic.twitter.com/zyxw5alUYJ— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 15, 2018
With each dog, Gideon tells a story. Whether it’s about their name, where they came from, or what trials they’ve been through.
I pet Kayti. She was just adopted from @CedarBendHS a few weeks ago. She is about 7 years old and is a poodle, dachshund mix. pic.twitter.com/gPJCXwEkQl— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 5, 2018
I pet Romeo. He is a 7 year old shih tzu at @CedarBendHS who needs a home. He was a stray. When he was found, his hair was all matted and dirty. Romeo can sit and comes when you call his name. He likes to play fetch and tug-o-war. He loves to be pet. pic.twitter.com/FstXui6VXM— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 17, 2018
I pet Nala. She is a German shepherd, border collie mix. Nala was given to her current caregivers when she needed a new home. Without them, she would have wound up in a shelter. She loves people and peanut butter. pic.twitter.com/lK1N5XXBLY— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 11, 2018
Gideon and all these cute doggos have warmed our hearts. It’s hard not to feel happy looking at their cute faces.
I pet Pepper. He was abandoned at 2 years old after his house burned down. His current caregiver was a neighbor who found him and took him in. Pepper is a “rabbit and squirrel chasing son of a gun.” He is now 15, and can’t go as fast but he still likes to chase. pic.twitter.com/lpyl2fzkk7— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 12, 2018
I pet Fenway. She is a golden retriever. She is only 10 months old and was adopted from a family in Erie, IL. She is named Fenway because her caregiver is a big Boston Red Sox fan. Fenway is a happy dog who is always smiling. pic.twitter.com/tAN58PTDbb— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 17, 2018
I pet Lady. She is a 6 year old rough-coated collie. She is famous and has her own Instagram account: @lady_notlassie. She was born on a farm in Wisconsin. Lady is very sweet and smart. She is a good listener. She will tilt her head and look at you when you talk. pic.twitter.com/tPPE7vHFQW— I've Pet That Dog (@IvePetThatDog) May 17, 2018
