Whether it be fashion, food, or even beverages, many things can come and go. And we’ve seen things from crop tops and sock boots, to juicing and kale trends, with people and their likes or dislikes. However, did anyone ever expect a sparkling alcoholic drink to trend? Even better, did anyone expect a popular hard seltzer to make an appearance at weddings? Yeah, neither did we.
It may not be for everyone, but a lot of people seem to enjoy White Claw. White Claw is one of the leading hard seltzers on the market. And according to Nielsen, competing with brands like Truly, as well as Anheuser-Busch InBev and Smirnoff, White Claw accounted for, “55.5 percent of the dollar share for the week” of the Fourth of July this year.
The bubbly beverage spiked sayings like, “No Laws With Claws,” and “White Claw lifestyle,” as well as a series of many memes. So, we aren’t surprised that it was a hit of summer 2019. Nor are we surprised that it’s now the drink of choice for wedding parties and their guests, complete with its own hashtag, #whiteclawwedding.
White Claw offers a variety of different flavors, like Black Cherry, Raspberry, Mango, Natural Lime and more- perfect to match bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen attire, and floral arrangements. And wedding parties took to Instagram to share photos, almost promoting the hard seltzer.
White Claw isn’t the first of its kind, because we’ve seen alcoholic seltzers before, they just never caught on- until millenials and their love for fizzy water (with a splash of vodka). Coachella even dubbed it “Gen-Z’s version of Zima.”
So, now we can assume that some people (like those who once cherished Pabst’s PBR to be cool, and hip) will be sharing their favorite White Claw flavor, and possibly shaming or judging anyone who doesn’t like it.
