These haunted people share the most unforgettable thing they've walked in on.
“Is Everything Okay?”
Right next to him, was a weapon.
He was home alone, didn’t know I was coming over, and I didn’t knock. It was pretty clear what I had walked into. I asked him if everything was okay. He had just been through a breakup with a kid involved.
But he just kind of looked up and said, ‘yeah, yeah actually I think so. I’m alright.’ Anyways, 15 years later we are still good friends. He married a new lady, has a gang of kids, and life is good.”
“I Accidentally Saved Her Life”
“I went to my best friend’s house. The front door was unlocked, and I did the knock while opening the door thing. I found his mom passed out in a chair with a needle sticking out of her arm. She was also naked.
I ran home and told my mom. It turns out, she overdosed and was rushed to the hospital. I accidentally saved her life. I will never not knock again. I was 9 years old when this happened.”
She Was Caught Off Guard
“I was about 10 or 11 years old babysitting a toddler. Anyhow, the girl I was babysitting didn’t wake up until 8 a.m., so when I got there around 7 a.m., I’d load up my video game on their computer and play until she woke up.
One particular day, I came in to find the safe in the corner of the office was wide open, being a curious kid I looked in. There was a mass of naked photos of the wife, and a few videos. So I put one of the videos in, it was literally her laying on the bed motionless, he struts up, does his thing, walks away, comes back with a towel, and wipes her off.”
Behind Closed Doors
“I walked in on my stepfather choking my mother. It was clearly not the murder choke, but it was a huge act of aggression. He was drinking heavily at the time, and I was in my early teens or not even that, don’t quite remember. I didn’t know what to do at all. Luckily he saw me and stopped.
I have this thing that I’ve come to dislike very much, especially during my last year working with a psychotherapist, which is either something I’ve had from the beginning, or something that came out of my life’s experience, or most likely both – I can brush off anything.
I just don’t get phased by the negative stuff of any magnitude at all, minimum emotions. But it doesn’t go away, it creeps up poisoning me over time. I take pills and try to stay positive. But seasons still come and go and I’m losing parts of my soul one by one. I never needed much to be happy but I lost it on the way. Or maybe it’s just life, I don’t know.
Really sorry, had to speak out.”
He Is Haunted By What He Saw
“I worked as a pizza delivery boy when I was 19 years old. I was sent to a block of flats. On the ninth floor, I walked up to the door, and I heard a baby screaming. I knock on the door, and it opens a little because it wasn’t closed properly. I hear a barely audible ‘come in’ in a shaky woman’s voice. I push the door open and my life changes forever.
The place was completely devoid of anything apart from a roundtable, two chairs, and a wooden crate in the far left corner. Sitting on the two chairs around the table are two of the most broken women I have ever seen. The table is littered with needles. One of the women was still busy using. My eyes are immediately drawn to the far corner of the room where are the screaming is coming from.
