There are always rumors going around at school and even teachers know what's going on every now and then. However, these rumors seemed too crazy to be true. That is until the truth came to light in these messed up stories.
He Had The Nicest Face But It Was Hiding Something Dark
“There was a rumor that a student murdered someone and is in jail now. He was the nicest guy and one that I think about and miss talking to.
He didn’t only murder the person six months after graduating, he also gouged out his victim’s eyes and stabbed them so hard that the knife got stuck in their spine.
Hearing about that was as if Mr. Rogers had done it, a complete shock.”
Their Giggling Rumors Turned Out To Be The Shocking Truth
“A group of giggling 12-year-old students in my class told me that one of their fellow students wasn’t in today because she was pregnant.
I phoned home, fully expecting this to be some stupid rumor started by the kids on the school bus that morning. But no – my 12-year-old student was not only pregnant but had actually given birth in her bedroom during the night. She was a little overweight anyway and wore big baggy jumpers (everyone did back then so nothing unusual there) so no one noticed at all and she told no one, claiming she had no idea.
I’d taken them all on a school trip to Alton Towers theme park the day before and she’d been on all the roller coasters and rides! No wonder she gave birth… Yes, the baby was healthy and they thought he was full term. Even the hospital got very little information out of her as she just insisted she’d not known she was pregnant. Many of us (and her friends) were unconvinced by this though as she’d apparently stopped smoking a few months before for no reason (being a 12-year-old smoker wasn’t unheard of at that school sadly) and she’d ‘joked’ about fooling around with someone months before, but then said only joking and denied it all when ‘friends’ said she got around.
I don’t know if the father was ever determined. Social services were already involved in this girl’s family. I don’t know much of what else happened as I moved to a different school after that year, but I did see her in town a few years later. She had two kids with her plus her mother, who basically brought the kids up for her.”
This Student Had An Actual Death Wish
“I heard a rumor (from other staff members) that an exceptionally bad kid chose to misbehave because he was dying of cancer. It turns out the kid was told in second grade that he had six months to live. Despite having missed half the year, the school shuffled him along to the next grade so he could stay with his friends, trying to not ruin his limited time left on earth. However, he continued to miss tons of school for treatment and continued to not die, despite doctors estimating his time remaining to be very short. He continued to be shuffled along in school until suddenly he found himself in high school and almost illiterate. So he acted out and misbehaved and when teachers tried to discipline him, he would scream, ‘I’m dying!’ to try to guilt his way out of punishment.”
This Random Surveillance Saved Two Lives In One Day
“There were several rumors about this girl that was out of control for a two to three-month period of the school year.
The girl regrettable fooled around with this guy at a party and later claimed she was violated. Everyone believed her, except a few people who believed accused guy.
One day during school, she had apparently asked for a pass to go to the bathroom. She met some other guy (not party guy) in one of the locker rooms at school to get freaky with him. Some random person happened to go into the locker room and saw them. The person recorded what they saw and never told anyone.
The girl later claimed being violated by the locker room guy after he didn’t want to date her. Out of nowhere, the person with the video came forward. She had to be on a safety plan because people hated her guts and clearly, the second assault claim was false. No one believed the first one either so that guy was vindicated.
She ended up transferring.”
No Reason Was Given For His Actions…
“There was a rumor that one of my sixth-grade students murdered a grown man at a gas station.
No one on staff believed him but the administration got involved and brought the kid in after a few kids kept up the rumor long enough. He confessed to it and said it was all true, but didn’t have any signs of remorse and acted like it was no big deal, so they assumed he was lying.
The next school year starts and he wasn’t on any of my rosters, so I went and asked the principal about him because his brother is still here. Turns out, he did, in fact, stab a knife into a random man’s neck at a gas station. No reason was given or found out. He just walked up and stabbed him.”
“He Will Try To Hurt You”
“‘You probably just want to avoid Quentin… he will try to hurt you.’
I teach high school and heard this headed into my first year of teaching and had this kid in my class. On the first day of school, he talked about how his cat got assaulted. Several weeks later, he spent the class shining a laser pointer in my eyes until I figured out it was him. Eventually, another teacher had to get a restraining order against him because he threatened to kill her with very specific actions. He eventually got sent to the juvenile detention center. At this point, I figured I was done hearing about him. Nope.
He got out of juvenile detention and the teacher that worked there caught Quentin spreading gasoline around his house late one night with enough to burn the whole place down.”
He Just Wanted To Cook Dinner…
“I was teaching a fourth/fifth grade split in a low-income area. A lot of the kids lived in the same apartment complex, which was government housing.
One weekend, that building burned down. Mercifully, no one was killed, but it was still really devastating, obviously. The following Monday, all of the students were sort of avoiding this kid named George. I heard them whispering that he had burned down the building, which I thought was nonsense. He was kind of an odd kid, so I thought they were just picking on him and felt super bad for him all morning.
Come lunch break, I’m in the staff room, and of course, it is all the teachers are talking about. And it turns out the rumor is true. George burnt down the building, but it wasn’t like he just set a fire, it was actually really depressing. His mom worked nights and there was supposed to be someone to look after him that night, but the babysitter was late. The mom called her at home, but there was no answer so she figured the babysitter was on her way.
She left, figuring the babysitter would be there soon, but she never showed up. George got hungry and decided to cook himself supper, figuring he’d seen his mom do it hundreds of times, he could figure out the oven. And yeah, there was a fire that then burned down the entire building.
It really was sad. He actually ended up changing schools. Not so much because of the kids. They were mean at first, but because they were in government housing in the first place, it wasn’t like they had lost super nice apartments. They were all rehoused within a few months. The other parents harassed this poor mom so much that she couldn’t handle it anymore. He moved schools and then a few months after that they moved to a different city.
The harassment of the other parents was brutal. There was a lot of talk about what kind of ‘night job’ she had – basically they were accusing her of being a woman of the night, which was beyond hypocritical given the fact that 1) We had a more than a few parents who were also women of the night, and 2) There were also numerous parents involved in other illegal work. I remember one particular mom who very loudly called her out for sleeping around one day when she was there to pick up her kid. It took all my willpower not to remind her that her on-again-off-again live-in boyfriend was a known dealer throughout the neighborhood.”
Their Student Was Caught In The Worst Possible Situation
“There was a seventh-grade girl in one of the middle schools that I work at. It became pretty obvious that she was several months pregnant, and obviously, people started talking.
Come to find out, the girl’s family married her off to some sicko in the Dominican Republic. According to what was going around, they took a trip down there, married her off, and he got her pregnant, with the goal of using her and the baby as a way to make it easier for the father to immigrate. Not sure how well this would have worked, but this was the rumored plan.
The rumor started to pick up some serious traction very quickly once she started showing and it became obvious she was pregnant. She apparently confided in someone that she was not a willing participant in any of this. The authorities got involved and made a visit to the home. Not sure what happened. They went to go make a second trip and the entire family disappeared. We have not seen or heard from the girl since and have no idea if she’s in a different part of the state, the country, or went back to the Dominican Republic.”
Her Absent Humor Completely Disappeared After This Incident
“I add humor to everything while I teach because that’s who I am. Whenever someone is absent I like to add random adlibs as to what happened. I’ll add things like, ‘Oh, she’s absent? Joined a colony of squirrels.’ ‘Absent? Became one with nature and started a hamster farm in Arizona.’ I try to make it as weird as possible.
One day I added one of my adlibs to an absent student and another student corrected me saying she ran away. I thought they were joking since the absent student is a really good student. So I went with it and said she ran away and joined the circus. A few days go by and she’s still not in school so I call home.
Turns out she did run away. She’s still missing I just hope she one day randomly shows up in school so we at least know she’s safe.”
They Wondered How He Got The Bruises, And The Culprit Was Right In Front Of Them
“There was this kid (let’s call him ‘Craig’) in the 10th grade, who was a prick. He was the kind of person who picked on disabled kids and even outright attacked them sometimes. He was the kind of kid that made me want to knock him out every time he started being a prick, just to show him that it wouldn’t get him anywhere.
Anyway, ‘Craig’ didn’t turn up to one of his mock exams, but we knew he was in school as he had signed in that morning. There was a rumor that he went and attacked someone. It wasn’t that surprising until I started listening to what they were saying. The things that people were saying were oddly specific, like the color of the victim’s hair and eyes, what parts of his body were attacked/broken – things like that. What was even more suspicious was that ‘Craig’ started bragging about it to people, saying the exact same things.
Eventually, one of the students came in with the exact injuries and physical traits that were going around in the rumors. He kept his mouth shut but eventually hinted that someone at the school had done it to him. We called the police and social services pretty much instantly and as soon as ‘Craig’ spotted the police, he broke down in tears and admitted to skipping his exam so he could go and torture the poor kid.
Don’t know where he is now, but he got expelled. Hopefully, he got what he deserved.”
This Shocking News Caused The Whole Family To Make A Drastic Decision
“One of my students came back to school in August with a dress and a sign saying she was transgendered. Coolio. No big deal.
And then she left for two weeks. If a student is gone for two weeks, there is going to be some form of talking to the parents. One of her friends told my co-workers and me to not bother because her family moved to Sweden. We thought the kid was joking, but a quick check on Facebook showed that the family moved to Sweden and never told anyone.
No one has heard of the family since. There is minor activity on Facebook to show that they are alive and breathing, but the aunts, uncles, and grandparents have not heard from the family since. We don’t know if the transgender thing and the sudden move are connected.”
This Teacher Couldn’t Believe Their Cousin Would Do This To Their Student
“I heard a rumor that my cousin (who attended the school where I work) posted very adult photos of a fellow student on her page as revenge because the girl had accused her of incest. I thought there was no way my cousin was that freaking stupid, but I checked out her page just in case.
Turns out, the girl had run away with some guy and was threatening to kill herself while spreading photos of herself on Snapchat with illegal substances and very clear provocative activities. My cousin took a screenshot of these pictures and posted it for everyone to see. Hopefully the only time I’ll ever have to answer ‘did the junk or surrounding area have any identifying marks?'”
Turns Out His Nickname Suited His Future Profession Perfectly
“I used to work with students at a construction college who were between the ages of 16 and 19 years old. Shortly after a new intake I overheard a couple of the new learners calling one of the others ‘bank robber.’ I asked them all to stay behind to talk to them about appropriate names and to ensure there wasn’t any bullying going on. The young man in question seemed extremely well mannered and had what I can only describe as a baby face with a cheeky grin. Turns out he actually had a criminal record of trying to hold up a bank with his dad using ‘garden implements.’ I had no words.”
This Student Decided Hustlin’ Was Better Than Studyin’
“Students are always getting in trouble for selling candy, drinks, and chips at the school where I teach. I’m actually whatever about it – they’re only doing it because the school district barred the cafeteria from selling them and it’s not like they’re becoming overnight millionaires. That is except for when I heard about one student.
A few students were selling in my class and I said put it up, do it when the bell rings. They’re usually cool as I don’t push anything beyond that but I did inquire. I was like how much do you guys make?
They said they make a couple hundred dollars a week from their cut. Couple hundred! Their cut!
One kid would spend about a $1,000 a month or so at Sam’s Club and stock up. He gave these guys anywhere from 25 to 50 percent of whatever they sold. He was making a few thousand bucks a month. No one would fess up on his identity.
And honestly – more power to him. His intentions were a car, college, and some video games, no illegal substances or anything.
A few months later he got busted and some legal proceedings followed. It turns out he made almost $10,000 in a few months. I’m not sure how much would hold up in court but he did buy a car, a laptop for college, and saved the rest.”
This Band Practice Room Was Too Quiet For This Sub
“I was a substitute teacher for a couple of years, mostly in band classes because I had a degree in music.
One girl had a reputation as a ‘do anything for money’ type. I figured it was true, but I kept my nose out since I was only at the school fewer than 10 times a year.
Well, one day, I received an assignment from the teacher to break the kids up into sections to practice their parts (Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, etc).
I didn’t hear any noise from the percussion room, which is unusual because drummers are always playing. I went to investigate and caught her and three other drummer kids together. She had her chest exposed and the boys were taking photos. Money was in fact, exchanged.”
Karma Was Bound To Catch Up With Him Sooner Or Later
“I am a high school math teacher. Several years ago, I had a student who I suspected of constant academic dishonesty (cheating). One of my colleagues felt the same. Neither one of us could ever catch him – came close a couple of times but could never quite nail him.
The kid graduated near the top of his class, apparently cheating his way there (so many of them do). The student went on to Texas A&M and we all moved on from him. Lo and behold, the guy made the 6 pm news for trying to steal a professor’s test key by crawling through an AC vent into the professor’s office. He fell through the ceiling and was arrested. Vindicated!”
His Food Tasted Funny Because…
“A seventh-grade kid came up after lunch and told me the lunch ladies had poisoned him. I told him he was being silly and shuffled him off to class. We found out about six months later that a seventh-grade girl had actually put drain cleaner or some other caustic chemical into his mashed potatoes and he ate it. He was very poor and received free lunch so he pretty much ate whatever was given to him every day. Another boy had confessed to us that he, along with all of the other seventh and eighth graders, knew about it the whole time. When asked why she did it, the girl said, ‘Well, because he’s gay.’
It was heartbreaking.”
This Little Missy Wasn’t As Innocent As She Seemed
“I was working a seventh-grade English summer school program. Some classmates once made a few snide comments on ‘Missy’ being ridden more than Tonto’s horse. I thought they were just trying to embarrass me or something. The entire class was fairly tightly knit, so I wouldn’t put it past them.
‘Missy? You guys kidding me? She’s obviously a sweetheart.’
At which Missy snorted, ‘You don’t know me at all!’
A couple weeks later, I confiscated the note to end all notes: ‘Yo Missy, how about you hook a brother up wit yo digits?’
This fellow was as white as mayonnaise and the least thug. Picture Rick Moranis saying that and you have a good idea of this kid.
‘Ok. Want to fool around?’ That was the first thing she said in the note, and I’m fairly certain the only thing she ever said to the kid before then.
I don’t recall much else of the note, except that Rick was having REAL trouble processing that he could get laid, and one other comment from Missy: ‘Just meet me in the janitor’s closet after class. I’ll take care of everything.’
Janitor’s closet. The dirtiest of all secluded school rooms.”
This Is One Messed Up Catholic School
“There is a rural Catholic school here with an unhealthy smattering of dirty priests. I saw one inappropriately touching a friend who we found out later was being violated by another priest the next town over. The principal had bounced to and from four different schools because he couldn’t stop touching young girls.
There was a young idiot ‘dux of everything’ who returned to school after college to ‘teach’ (without qualifications) and actually wrote a note to two senior girls promising bogus grades for favors. Another two kids were kicked out of school for fooling around on the pool table in a common room.
There was this priest who was riding the knife edge between humanity and psychosis. I once saw him beat the absolute snot out of a kid who I hated, so bad that I felt sorry for him – heavy slaps to the face and then ran him into a metal post by the scruff of his neck. To our relief, the priest disappeared one day, and so too did the married head of Year 10 English. Someone saw them years later, 4,000 km away. Apparently, she’d divorced her husband and he’d left the priesthood and they were as happy as they could be.”
He Never Could Get Out Of The Bad Crowd
“A student, by the name of Mike, walked into a situation where a guy was stabbing his girlfriend at a grocery store. Mike helped probably saved the girl’s life. Mike got stabbed in the hand for his trouble. At the time, a lot of other students were saying Mike was in a gang and that dude was an idiot for attacking Mike.
A few years later, Mike got beat to within an inch of his life for attempting to steal weight from his own gang. Mike was eventually the key witness in a federal racketeering case and disappeared (probably witness protection).
I didn’t believe the rumors until I heard about his second misfortune. Such a range of feelings towards his life choices.”
There Was A Reason For The Sadness In His Eyes
“One kid in the sixth grade had severe behavioral problems and there were some staff members who refused to be in the room with him alone. He was a really scary kid, totally dead behind the eyes, like a shark.
I heard kids spreading rumors that his home life was a horrible mess. Apparently, he was one of either five or six kids and that his younger brother had ‘mental problems’ and that his parents just didn’t know how to handle it. I told them to knock it off and I know they were given a lecture about not gossiping. The boy ended up not being invited back for the next grade.
Anyway, it turns out that it was all true, his younger brother was bipolar and was possibly schizophrenic or something similar. He apparently would run away, hurt himself, scream all the time, etc. The information I have now paints a devastating picture of that poor child’s mental health. It is so, so heartbreaking. He ended up committing suicide when he was 12 years old. There was a TV documentary about it here. It’s horrible, and I feel awful for his brother, the kid I knew. It makes so much more sense now.”
These Innocent Students Got Into Some Naughty Late Night Shenanigans
“On a student council field trip, the advisor inadvertently booked adjoining rooms for the boys and girls. The kids opened the door between the rooms and partied all night, culminating in three kids losing their v cards on camera. They filmed it!! There were murmurs about misbehavior but no one knew anything for sure until a religious kid confessed to his youth group leader and turned over his cell phone as proof.”
They Were Caught K-I-S-S-I-N-G
“The culinary teacher – who just had kids with her husband – and the biology teacher were caught making out by a student during an event. It was confirmed by them soon after. I saw on Facebook recently that now they’re married. Honestly, they look really happy.”
Turns Out This Teacher Was Teaching A Secret Celebrity
“I am a high school teacher. There was a rumor going around my school that a student was actually a model for Teen Vogue. I honestly believed it because she was a stunningly beautiful girl (and a top student, kind to everyone, responsible), tall, and had really striking ‘model’ cheekbones.
One day, the class was making collages and going through magazines. Sure enough one kid finds the latest Teen Vogue in the stack.
‘Hey, Savannah, is this you?’ she asked, pointing to a picture of a girl in a prom dress.
Savannah looked up and squints. ‘Yup. That’s me,’ she said, smiling. Very matter-of-fact.
‘For real?’ the class chimes in.
‘Not kidding. That’s really me.’
And she pulled out her phone with the galley proofs her agent sent her to prove it.
She was really humble about it. The class was starstruck for about 10 minutes and then got back to work. Savannah was a good sport.”
This Story Seemed Not Too Extreme, But…
“Not too extreme, but during my time working as an English Teacher in Japan, I knew of two junior high students who were reportedly involved in a gang.
Fast forward six months after I’ve come back to my home country, those two boys and five other students had murdered another kid (from another school in the area). I was informed by a friend still teaching in that area.
It doesn’t sound crazy but given the country and the low levels of crime of any level there in the area where I worked, it was a huge shock.”
