Oh, How The Mighty Have Fallen
Celebrities are humans, and like all humans, they are likely to make mistakes from time to time. The following celebrities are no different. They range from comedians once viewed as wholesome people who were actually monsters behind doors, an adult-film star who got caught up with the wrong crowd, and child actors who took the wrong path after the light of stardom began to dim. Take a look at 15 celebrity mugshots that we think you should see.
Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby had to trade in his iconic sweater collection for an orange prison jumpsuit upon being booked at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after being convicted and sentenced on felony assault charges in September 2018. Once known as “America’s Dad,” Cosby’s true nature was revealed in 2015, when he was charged with multiple felonies connected to the abuse of Andrea Constand more than 12 years prior. The formal charges followed years of allegations against Cosby from dozens of women.
Cosby was found guilty by a jury nearly three years following his arrest before being sentenced to at least three years in prison. According to CNN, one of Cosby’s first meals in prison included Jell-O.
The mugshot you see here was taken just as Cosby was booked at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in September 2018.
Shaun Weiss
Shaun Weiss, best known for his role as Greg Goldberg in the Mighty Ducks franchise, is unrecognizable in this mugshot taken shortly after his August 2018 arrest in Oroville, California, for drinking in public. Weiss, who is only 39 years old in the mugshot, looks more like a 60-year-old man who’s spent most of his life battling a myriad of vices than a former child star.
Weiss would go on to enter rehab a few weeks after his arrest. On a Facebook post (via People.com), Weiss explained that he was entering a treatment facility “in an effort to break free from the self-destructive patterns of behavior and [substance] abuse that have landed me at rock bottom, (to be real… BELOW rock bottom).”
Stormy Daniels
Stormy Daniels became the most well-known adult-film star in early 2018 when the Wall Street Journal reported that United States President Donald Trump’s then-personal attorney allegedly paid Daniels $130,000 in hush money in 2016 to deny that she had a relationship with the then-candidate Trump. What followed was a media circus surrounding Daniels, her attorney Michael Avenatti, Cohen, and Trump that is still ongoing, and will probably never end.
Several months after the allegations surfaced, Daniels was arrested at an Ohio gentlemen’s club after she allegedly inappropriately touched a patron. Avenatti, speaking on behalf of his client, told reporters that police had set up a “politically motivated sting operation.” The charges from the August 2018 arrest were eventually dismissed by local prosecutors.
Heather Locklear
Heather Locklear’s name has appeared on court dockets more than on her IMDb page in recent years, thanks to incidents like the one that landed the former star of _Melrose Place _in police custody over the summer. Locklear was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery in June 2018 after she allegedly kicked a police officer and emergency personnel. Locklear was later transported to the Ventura County Jail where her bail was set at $20,000. Locklear has since entered rehab, where, according to representatives, she is doing quite well on her journey to sobriety.
Tiger Woods
Life is a series of peaks and valleys, and golf superstar Tiger Woods knows that better than most. Woods has finished in the top five or better in a number of tournaments so far this year and even took home the first place prize in the 2018 PGA Tour Championship in early September. Last year, however, was one of the many valleys in the golfer’s career, especially after he wound up in the backseat of a police cruiser and being pulled over for driving under the influence.
According to a report by the New York Times, Woods was pulled over by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies in May 2017 after they found him asleep behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz. Toxicology reports released later in 2017 showed the Woods had a number of controlled substances in his system at the time of his arrest.
There is some good news, however, as the four-time Masters champion was able to enter a diversion program to settle the charges.
Nicki Minaj
Long before Nicki Minaj was feuding with the likes of Cardi B, Taylor Swift, and Mariah Carey, the one-day rap superstar was stopped before she took one alleged feud a little too far. Minaj, whose birth name is Onika Maraj, was arrested by officers from the New York Police Department in January 2003 after they found a dangerous weapon in her possession. She was later charged with criminal possession of a weapon with the intent to use.
Tim Allen (Twice!)
Everyone’s favorite Tool Man was arrested not once, but twice! In 1978, he went to the big house for the first time for attempting to traffic over 650 grams (1.43 lbs) of coke and avoided a lifetime in prison by giving information about other dealers for a reduced sentence of three to seven years. Allen ended up serving about two years and four months before he was paroled in 1981.
Allen was later arrested and charged with driving under the influence in 1997 following a traffic stop in Bloomfield Township, Michigan.
Reese Witherspoon
In 2013, Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon was arrested in Georgia for disorderly conduct. The Walk the Line star refused to remain in the car while her husband was given field sobriety tests. She even asked the officer, “Do you know my name?” before being booked into the city jail.
It looks like America’s sweetheart isn’t so sweet after all. You really should watch the video of her arrest some time though—that southern drawl gets stronger and stronger the angrier she gets!
David Bowie
David Bowie fans in the Rochester, New York, area probably scratched their heads as to why the enigmatic rock and roll performer never returned to their lovely city following a March 1976 performance at the Community War Memorial. It wasn’t necessarily an oversight on Bowie’s part. No, it was probably due to the fact that Ziggy Stardust himself was arrested by Rochester Police at an area hotel following the concert.
The charges were all but dismissed a few months later after a grand jury declined to indict Bowie and his fellow defendants, who included legendary punk rock pioneer Iggy Pop.
Frank Sinatra
This is perhaps one of the most ridiculous charges you will see on this list. Frank Sinatra, Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, was arrested in 1938 on charges of adultery. Sinatra was allegedly caught sleeping with a married woman, which back then could lead to your arrest and incarceration.
According to the World History Project, “Sinatra was arrested on a morals charge when an old girlfriend accused him of a breach of promise.” The article goes on to state, “Sinatra was accused of having [relations] with a single female who was formerly in good repute, something that was apparently against the law at the time.”
The case would go on for another year before the charges were eventually dismissed in January 1939.
André the Giant
Andre Roussimoff may have been known as a gentle giant, however, in 1989, the 540-pound wrestler and Princess Bride star was charged with assault for beating up a local TV cameraman at an event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Cedar Rapids Assistant Police Chief Jim Barnes told the Chicago Tribune Andre was “upset when Ben Hildebrandt, of a Cedar Rapids TV station, was taking videotape during a match between [Roussimoff] and the Ultimate Warrior. The Ultimate Warrior won in 30 seconds.”
Barnes told the publication that Roussimoff was cooperative during the arrest, something that the officer appreciated.
“Thank God he was cooperative in the arrest,” said Barnes. “A guy that big, he could cause some damage.”
Roussimoff was later booked at the Linn County Jail before posting his $1,200 bail.
Larry King
It doesn’t quite look like it, but the mugshot you see here is none other than longtime CNN personality Larry King. The mugshot was taken shortly after King’s 1971 arrest in Miami on charges of grand larceny. According to reports, King was unable to pay back money that he owned a financier. King would go on to plead no contest on a single count of passing bad checks, but the charge was later thrown out after the statute of limitations expired. King would go on to make a name for himself in radio and television, and the rest is history.
Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman
Paul Reubens AKA Pee Wee Herman was a bonafide star at the time of his 1991 arrest for indecent exposure at an adult movie house in Sarasota, Florida. Reubens would go on to plead no contest on the charge, and he was required to perform 75 hours of community service in return. The former children’s television star would only make relatively small appearances in movies until his well-received performance in the 2001 crime drama Blow.
The turn of luck was short-lived as Reubens was arrested in 2002 and charged with possession of what authorities considered child smut. The charges were later dropped after Reubens entered a guilty plea on a lesser charge.
Robert Downey, Jr.
Kids today will probably never know about the Robert Downey Jr. of the 1990s and early 2000s. Long before he was Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes, Downey was a habitual addict and prison inmate while acting on the side. The one-day highest paid actor in Hollywood spent nearly a year in a California substance abuse treatment facility and state prison after violating the terms of his parole more than once.
During a 2014 interview with Vanity Fair regarding his many legal and substance abuse issues during that era, especially the time his neighbors found him passed out in their son’s bed, the actor was dismissive of the incidents, stating, “It’s perfectly normal for people to be obsessive about something for a period of time, then leave it alone.”
Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin might have avoided being arrested and charged with attempted murder (on two separate occasions), his luck ran out when he was arrested after officers found 17 grams of pot and several other controlled substances after his friend was pulled over on an Oklahoma interstate in September 2004. Culkin was transported to the Oklahoma County Jail where he posted $4,000 bail and was released.
Culkin would initially plead not guilty on the possession charges, but eventually reversed his stance and entered a guilty plea on the pot charge. He was sentenced to three suspended one-year prison sentences and was ordered to pay $540 in fines.
