Sometimes people think they are so much better than others. This often results in terrible attitudes that often go unchecked until the worst possible moment. Here, people reveal the time a person misjudged them and paid the price for it.

You Never Know!
“I have a reasonably good job. On weekends, I like to wear comfortable clothes rather than stylish.
I was in the market for a new car. At that time I was driving a Mercedes E class. I walked into the Mercedes garage and started browsing both the C and E classes. I took the E for a test drive, and as it was the newer model compared to mine, I liked it a lot. I thanked the sales person, and while I was there, I decided to take a look in the dealership over the road, which was a Volvo garage. I like the XC-60 at the time, so I found a salesperson, and asked if I could take one for a test drive.
The salesman said he didn’t have any to test drive. I found this rather surprising as it was midday on a Saturday one of their busiest times. I questioned this, and the salesman snapped and said, ‘Sir, I have models for people to test drive if they are in a position to buy.’
I asked what he meant by this, and his response was, ‘Volvo’s are very expensive cars. Are you sure that you have the money to purchase one?’
Now at that point, my ghast was flabbered I tell you. I had just test drove a Mercedes, I owned a Mercedes, and he was asking me if I could afford a Volvo.
‘May I speak with your manager?’ I asked way too calmly.
The manager on duly arrived and I explained to him that I have never been so offended in all my life (I wasn’t really offended, just a little pissed off) but he didn’t need to know that.
I went on the explain, that I truly did have the money to purchase a Volvo, and I would never ever purchase a car from that dealer, and I will also gladly recommend any other garages to my friends who were also looking for cars at time. The manager was rather taken aback by this, and I did tell him, that just because I was wearing a pair of combat trousers, a t-shirt and a baseball cap, did not mean that I could not afford their cars. He was very apologetic, but at this point the damage was done.
On the flip side of this, close to my house is a Bentley dealership, and yes I cannot afford one of those, but as my wife and daughters were close by clothes shopping, which I hate to do, I went to take a look at the Bentley’s. The salesperson could not have been more helpful, showing me around and telling me all about them. When I was about to leave, I said to him, ‘You know that I can’t afford one of these don’t you?’
His response was, ‘Yes I am aware, but today is Saturday and tonight you may win the lottery! If I had told you where to go, you wouldn’t come back and buy a Bentley.’
That ladies and gentlemen is how to do it.
A Guy Like Me
“One day I was walking my dog around the marina. I was headed back to my dad’s boat when I saw a couple standing next to it. I walked down to the end of the dock and was shocked when I heard the guy spout off to me about how only boat owners are allowed on the docks. He had his chest puffed out, obviously trying to impress the girl and said I had to get out. Then he turned to the woman and was telling her about the places he’d been on his boat and how he had to find someone to clean it.
The entire time I just sat their dumbfounded. After all, he was pointing at my dad’s boat.
I was just standing there wondering what’s going on. Then he told me: ‘If you’re lucky enough, you’ll find a rich guy like me.’
Then the man told me to go away before he called security. The woman then said: ‘You’re gonna have to find some other guy because he’s taken!’
She made a face at me and was hugging him. I tried going around them and he asked what I was doing.
‘I’m getting on my dad’s boat,’ I announced.
The both of them started laughing hysterically, but I kept my cool. Then Ed (one of the crew) came out from the back of the boat and told me dinner was ready.
‘I’ll be there as soon as these idiots got out of my way,’ I told him. I then turned and stuck my tongue out at the woman and said, ‘He’s all yours.’
Of course, the woman got mad and stormed off. The guy desperately ran after her but she kept yelling at him to stay away and how he was a fake. Tom (another crew member) opened the side door and asked me what was going on.
I said: ‘She didn’t like him as much as she thought she did.’
Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover
“In my youth I wanted to sell cars because I thought I would make millions. I was working for a Ford dealership and was being mentored by a ten year vet.
My trainer told me that ‘women are the easiest target because they are stupid in nature and know nothing about cars.’ I kept a straight face as he added, ‘You just had to sweet talk them and tell them they were pretty and they will do whatever you want.’
Later that week, a woman approached us on the floor. She was one of the most beautiful women I’ve seen.
My trainer immediately started talking in a fake southern accent.
He said, ‘Hello you pretty little thing! What can I do for you?’
The woman greeted him warmly and said she was looking to buy something that would tow a boat that her boyfriend bought her.
We had a three-hundred dollar spiff on escorts at the time. My trainer told her that this escort would pull her boat up the mountain and had so much horsepower.
That’s when the woman burst out laughing and said, ‘No, it doesn’t!’
My trainer then said: ‘Little lady, I’ve been selling cars for ten years now. I think I know what I’m talking about.’
That’s when the woman looked him in the eye and said:
‘I’ve been a mechanic for 8 years and I absolutely know what I’m talking about.’
She then spun on her heels and clicked clacked off the lot.”
Some Friend
“A few years back I was looking for a new job but with no luck. A friend of mine said his company was hiring suggested I come apply. Thankful for his advice, I showed up a few days later. While I was there to fill out the application, the recruiters had me take several aptitude tests. After the testing was finished, I was waiting in an office to find out what my next steps were.
As I waited, I overheard the test administrator telling my friend I had scored higher than any other applicants in every aptitude test. I was excited because it sounded like my job search was finally over. However, it was what my friend said that made me second guess everything.
My ‘friend’ acted completely surprised. Several days later, my friends and I were at a cookout when I overheard that same ‘friend’ telling another friend that he ‘could not believe’ I scored so high on the testing. He went on to say that he didn’t think I was that smart and he was just being nice by telling me to come apply for the job. He didn’t think they would actually want to hire me.
Not only did it hurt my feelings but it pissed me off! When the job was offered to me, I turned it down. I would not want to work with someone that thought so low of me.”
